The warranty on my Emergency Mission is up and it has stopped ticking.

Does it need to go back to Breitling to have the batteries checked and changed, or can I have my watchmaker do it for me?

If you bought the EM new, send it to Breitling direct -- the EM pricing includes FREE first battery change/service.

But regardless, I would get Breitling to work on any Emergency, so they can check/calibrate the emergency transmitter.

I'd never let anyone other than breitling service my e don't forget if some muppet sets off the transmitter I bet ur still liable

What happens if you buy pre-owned one? How would they know the name of the new owner?

hi can i say as a mission owner only Breitling themself can change a battery if you manage to get someone to change it Breitling will not service your watch again so dont risk it take it to an AD they will look after it will take 6 or so weeks ..

you will need to fill in the correct docs send to Breitling and reg the watch in your name this should be done as soon as ownership changes .. if it has never been serviced it is FREE for the first service as long as you fill in all the correct docs....

I understand that you should register, but let's say new owner never does.

Say you had the watch registered and sold it through eBay. New owner does nothing to register and sets off the transmitter. Who will be liable for $25K charge?

Sell it if you want to just make sure the new owner signs all the transfer papers.

Unlike BUSA, BUK only 'register' details of the owners of the emergency or emergency mission. I know this because I enquired about watch registration a while ago. At the same time, I asked BUK how I would go about changing the registered owner details for my EM. I wouldn't consider selling, because I love it but was curious to know anyway.

Here is an extract from the email I received from BUK:

"If you do ever decide to sell your watch, all you need to do is send an e-mail or letter stating the model and serial numbers of your watch, the name and address of the new owner and the date that you ceased being the owner of the watch. We will then send a contract to the new owner for completion"

Not sure about any other country but it seems straight forward here in the UK (for a change!)
