Just a note to say thanks to all you regular posters, I have been a browser for months searching for info on Breitling watches, and thought it about time I joined!

This really is a source of well founded information and you guys are truly knowlegable on the subject.

My only gripe? Please, not Lings, they are Breitlings, do all you people drive Jags, Mercs, Chevvys or god forbid Beemers?

I may post some pics in due course of my own collection - for comment.

Hey! Welcome to the circus!

And no, don't be silly, we don't all drive vehicle with catchy nicknames. I drive a Ford Truck, which I guess could be shortened to Fuc -- never mind.

Congradulats on joinging the forum. You will find a wealth of information here, just as I did!

Damm. . . .I guess the wife and I fall into your gripe. . .as I look into the garage I see two Chevy's with a BMW out in the driveway. Guess I'll keep the nicknames to myself!

I must be honest but I'm with you 100% on the Ling thing! I don't think I have personally ever used the word Ling in any of my 800 or so posts for that very reason! But a lot of the guys like it, so that's OK by me.

BUT, I take exception to the Beemer comment! Yep I'm a dyed in the wool BMW driver. Sorry!

And to the cognoscenti, a Beemer is a BMW Motorcycle, the cars are known as Bimmers as stupid as that is. I call mine BMWs, and I guess I have a Fuc* too, an F-250 to be precise.

And I agree with you on the 'ling thing - it seems silly to me. I have wondered though is the slang term "Bling" just a contraction of Breitling?

Partially. Then of course, a polished SA is a lot of bling as well...

Welcome taylors!

Well you certainly stirred things up with your "Ling" comment :D

I'm with you in always saying "Breitling" rather than "Ling". However, I would say we're in the minority, at least as far as regular posters go. This half/full Ling is just a bit of fun for most but there are definitely a few to whom an "iced up Ling" is the holy grail!

And as for my car, it's a Merc - or should that be Benz?

Cheers!

I call 'em Benzes. Merc sounds like someone you hire to kill people. :D

Have you noticed it seems to be predominantly us stiff-upper-lipped British guys who don't like to use the term Ling?? :) How bizarre.
