Is anyone having issues with the signal strength on the iPhone 4 !

Apparently it's if you hold the phone in your palm in such a way it's shorts the antenna !

Quick fix until Apple resolve the matter is to turn off 3G

I had dinner with the neighbors last night and they mentioned this issue. Apparently happened to them a few times. They plan on getting this silicone case for the outter rim which is supposed to solve the issue.

Ohhh Apple, always seem to run into these little issues with every major release...

Hope it's just a software issue. Fix is on the way...

Yeah let's hope so !

But my phone does have this issue and I can replicate it but have found if 3G is switch off I have no downgrade in signal no matter how I hold it.

Heard a bumper or case prevents this "shorting" but as said on mine once 3G is turned off no issues at all.

Not the ideal fix but will do for now and without the need to just out bumper shopping.

Steve Jobs actually gave an interview last week and said there wasn't a problem - all phones have similar "reception" issues he said. Really?

Well I know there's been mixed reports on the fault being present !

But I've had access to 4 iPhone 4's and they all have this issue !

IMO what does cause the mixed reports is 3G ! Obviously with 3G turned off the phones I tested had no issues of signal strength loss but the phones when 3G was switched on all had a breakdown in signal strength but if when 3G was still on but the 3G reception lost then the loss in signal didn't occur !

But anyways that's my limited reasoning into the iPhone issues :-)
Just thought it may help !

I know as mine is used mainly for my business no signal is not a good thing to be happening !!!

You could always follow his highly technical advice, "Don't hold it that way". Really Steve?!! That's your solution? I'm getting a Droid.

Played w/ the Droid X and I find it much better (not being released for a couple of weeks yet, so I am stuck w/ an older phone for the time being). All respect to Apple, but the 4 I ordered and that was delivered the night before release just doesn't do it for me in the least. The shorting of the signal was a deal breaker, and it happened repeatedly. I paid for 3G and w/ ATT losing my signal, I returned it. Simple.

Did you see the pic of him "demonstrating" how not to hold the phone while at the same time delaring there was not a problem??? I truly LOL!
