Hey Everyone.....I've been surfing the forums for a while and I'm finally pulling the trigger and buying my first Breitling.

I went to an AD today and tried some on, I'm leaning twords a Super Avenger (white face).

Retail is $3995.00, they said the price is a little negotiable.

What is the average discount % people are getting from their dealers?

Are there any Dealers on the forums here?

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I want to get a good deal, but still retain the warranty.

Thanks everyone......and the addiction begins :D

from the dealer on a SA you shouldnt be paying more than 3400 tops. thats not even a 18% discount and you should get atleast that from the AD. tell them your looking to buy a few more breitilings within the next few months. that usually increases their discount. good luck

Ditto with the above comment. I purchased my wife a LING Starliner for this last Christmass. We have an AD about 5 miles away from where I live and I visited them about 2 months before Christmass day.

I explained to them what I wanted to get her, and they set out to find it. Long story short, my wife orderded a Breitling Airwolf for me as well for a Christmass gift, from the same AD.

We were totally shocked as well as dumbfounded that we used the same AD, and manged to keep it all a secret. We went back there the first week in January to thank them for their help as well as show off our new LINGs.

Well, after trying on a bunch of their inventory, I walked away with a SuperOcean at about a 50% discount!!! Not to mention they threw in the black diver pro strap for free!

I love on-line purchasing and sales, but if you get in good with a family owned AD or on a face to face relationship with the local sales folk you'll get more of a discount / hook-ups. . . . IMHO.

Hello, and welcome on board!

For your first Breitling I'd absolutely recommend an AD. That might be a few hundred bucks more than an online dealer, but for the paperwork, warranty, authenticity it is worth every cent of the extra bucks. It'll keep your mind at peace and you'll sleep without nightmares.

Depending on how much discount you can get, it depends on where you live. Living in US seems to attract more/higher discount than in Europe. (Just syaing this because I'm not sure - you gave a price ref in $, but that could be translated...). Remember - for your first Breitling, with a new relation to the AD, you might not get a great discount. My experience is that you "earn" the discount by either establishing a relationship (ie many visits) or a business relationship (ie many watches) or both.

Living in expensive Sweden, I got a 10% discount on my first watch from my AD, which is now up to 23% for the latest one.

I second that comment. It's taken me many years (and many watches!) but my recent 30% discount on my Bentley is testament to the value of cultivating a relationship with your AD.

Hello, and welcome.

I'm also in the AD camp, for all the reason stated above. Even if it's the only watch you buy in whole life I would go with an AD. I try to think of it this way.

If my watch stopped running 3 weeks after I got it, how much would I pay to not have the headache of having to to ship the watch back and negotiate the service/return of the watch with an on-line dealer. What if they are unresponsive all of a sudden. If I bought it at the AD, I just go back, and they take care of it.

How much value do I put on being able to actually see the specific piece I am about to spend my money on. That is, inspect it to make sure the hour markers all line-up with the hands, that the chronograph needle resets back to exactly 12:00. That there are no scratches, blemishes or other little things that may drive me crazy.

And finally, how much would I pay to KNOW my watch is authentic.

When I add up all those things, I find the higher value proposition is going through the AD -- particularly on the first purchase. Don't think of it as losing $x by buying from an AD, view it as investing that money in your sanity. A month after you get the watch, you will have forgotten about that small amount (relative to the price of the watch) of money anyway.

Good luck with your choice.

I would try to buy a Super Avenger from an AD. If you can get 20% off, you're going to be buying it 15% cheaper than I've seen a new one online for.

Well I went to Tourneau and was able to get a nice white face Super Avenger for $3400.00 out the door.

All in all I'm happy with the watch, but the service at this store was far from good.

The salesman completes the sale, then say "lets get you sized", I send the watch to the back and wait about 15 minutes..........salesman comes out the back and says its going to be a few more minutes. I'm thinking it doesn't take 25 minutes to take out 2 links, but ok whatever.

I take a walk around come back 20 minutes later....the salesman now tells me that the senior technician took home the tool they need to remove the links......so I have to come back tomorrow. I'm pissed but what can I do, so I leave.

After doing some errands, I'm very impatient..... so I figured I'd stop back in and take the watch as is, then remove the links my self (I have a nice set of tools some precision stuff for computers)

I walk into the store and they tell me they have to get my watch from the back.....after waiting another 30 minutes, I see the sales guy come out from the back and grab another Super Avenger from the showcase. He tells me that the original bracelet got damaged and they are going to take a new bracelet from another SA......and miraculously the technician is back with the tool they need....you know the one he took home (this happened all within a period of 2 hours).

Fast forward another 10 minutes, my SA comes out the back with a new bracelet and no links removed.....the salesman says "oh we left it as is so you can remove what you want"...At this point I just want to leave so I take my watch and leave......only to discover that these guys put the bracelet on backwards.......I'm pissed, so tomorrow I'll be wasting another trip to get this straightened out

So basically, they tried to remove links, scratched my bracelet, lied that they didn't have the correct tools, then put a new bracelet on backwards.....great first impression right?

To summarize it... Good deal, bad salesguy (sounds like they had intended to polish up your bracelet during the afternoon and put it back on - I bet they'll do that and put it on the other SA. Bad for the next customer.).

Nice pics! The white SA is a real beauty. However, I don't understand why some of you guys want to carry the watch below the wristbone (or what this bone is called, the one where the hand attach to the under arm) instead of above. Looks quite uncomfortable. But, whatever works for you is fine. :)

If you do a search for "superocean problem" you will see my expirenece with my local AD. There is no other place I would buy a watch from besides this AD. I purchased a Seelfish and it was losing around 20-30 minutes a day call him and he ordered my a new one as well as gave me a pre-owned watch to cover my wait time. I would never buy online or at torroune or however you spell it, those people there are...well...nevermind. You should be able to get close to a 20% discount on your first.

Nice purchase, firstnonly! I have a white dial SA myself, although mine is on a croco strap. It totally dwarfs your Tag in your pictures there!
