I was checking out the Italian vintage forums, like you do, and came across this thread about Breitling.
What did I do before the Google Translator!

Some very nice watches and pictures but nothing unexpected until on page five...

Be nice to see the back and movement, but that dial got me at "Hello"

I have to say even through the Chinese whispers that is Google Translate I'm impressed by the Italians passion for vintage watches. They seem produce some of the most stylish vintage books I've seen.

Don't need a translator to appreciate that!

A little smaller than that I fear.

I would guess so too. The 1946 brochure does have some one buttons using 15 ligne movements, which means there are some out there. The chronomat 769 is listed as having a 14 ligne movement and that comes in at about 36mm.

Yes I saw Pauls, a rare and nice Breitling. This is slightly different for me.

Paul's was signed Breitling, this is Montbrillant, I guess I've seen less then 5/10 genuine
dial marked Montbrillants. It was a name they used when they didn't put a makers mark on the dial
and then when they did, sometime in the Thirties, it was Breitling. I believe there might have been a cross over period
where they produced two lines, Montbrillant and possibly Breitling, at the same time, but I would guess it's a slim window of a few years.
Most pre-30's Montbrillants are unmarked anywhere and are next to impossible to verify conclusively.

Again it's difficult to tell from the pics, but it looks like a steel case. I can see that the pusher is plated, but I don't think that
would have to mean the case is. If the case is steel it's rare and a sign of a quality watch from that period, as most were plated.

Difficult to tell from the pics again, but to my eye this looks like a black gloss dial. Mmmmmm

For me all of these things make it a rare and unusual Breitling (assuming there's nothing suspicious about the rest of it  )
