I'm going to get grief for this one, so I must be stooopid to even post it, but......

Dearly beloved is looking through watch catalogues, magazines, websites, etc recently for her next piece. Apparently the arrival of new pieces for me mean that there has to be some quid pro quo.

So she says to me "how big a watch do you think I could wear?". Ever the diplomat I say that if she likes a watch and doesn't think that it's too big then it will be fine. She goes through my watch boxes trying different pieces and decides that she can wear up to 44mm. That's fairly large on her but as a sporty watch I can see it working. So a little more peace and quiet as she's back to looking at pictures of watches.

Now she pipes up with, "OK, that's the one - it's not that cheap so I can wait until Christmas". I'm terrified to think how much "not that cheap" is, but I wander over and take a peek at what she's looking at.............

I come over in a cold sweat

I turn pale

My knees go weak

After so many years together I can't believe that she is doing this to me

The watch that my wife wants next is..............

A PAM 243 in the 1950 case.

:wowzers  :whiner:

 Don't want to go down the same road as last time...not fair to original post and the topic...but I actually found one I love that m_reign has for sale in the forum. As for the Panerai Community? Not a fan...but I do like Radiomirs.

HAHAHA Andy that is awesome!!! I mean you cant blame her she has taken some serious notes from a serious collector. I wonder why everytime we get a new watch its just automatically assumed they get one too.

No sh*t! I was married to the same woman for 25 years and I don't recall a quid pro quo whenver she got nice jewelery. Hell, that's probably why I was wearing a $200 Banff Watch Co. tourist watch until the divorce was finalized.

I've been working on her, but no dice - she wants a brushed 243!

At least I have time before Christmas to try and educate her, but this has bad news written all over it.

@roman4405, my feelings on Panerai has been expressed once or twice on here and it's fair to see that they don't feature in my collection

Grounds for divorce I'd say Roff, given your stance on Panerai!

I think you might be right Driver8 - clearly this is a huge betrayal of trust and I'm not sure that our relationship can ever recover

Roff I am so overwhelmed with joy over your predicament I can barely type. The thought of you dropping by a Panerai AD and picking one up, the delicious irony, its all too sweet :uplaugh:

Your defeat is now complete my friend, time for you to give in and get one for yourself

Oh and give my sincerest regards to your wife, not just for making my day, but also to congratulate her on her impeccable taste and class.

I thought that you would be pleased Altair.

I'm just happy to have had a small part in making your day - even though I think it's cruel to laugh at another's suffering

I haven't even been a member that long and know very well of your displeasure with PAMs, Roff. This is very ironic indeed . . .
