As some of you know I'm on holiday at the moment and was looking forward to some window shopping in some Glasgow AD's the other day. I found somewhere(can't remember the name) just of Sauchiehall Street which was like a mall full of AD's, loads of nice watches from all the big brands, loved it.

Anyway there was a Watches of Switzerland their with loads of nice B's and a good 7 or 8 Panerai's. Now I've never seen one of those in the flesh and they looked amazing and here's where the problem starts. I didn't want to go in a try any on cos I knew I wouldn't be buying one that day and probably if I did buy one it wouldn't be from their. I really didn't want to waste anyone's time and thats generally how I feel or what happens when I visit any AD's. It is a problem for me as I don't have a local AD where I live and as I'm in the retail trade myself I hate bloody timewasters so thats probably where the hang up starts.

I'll be going back to the same mall probably on my return trip home and will take a few pics and post them up but just for now I would be gratefull for any thoughts on this subject.

Cheers

Go try the Panerais on. You can always say you've been looking at buying one but you've never been able to see them before. I have no problem viewing a watch that I probably won't buy.

im with Justin on that andrew, i am always trying on watches at local ad's and very unlikely to buy from them at all, although they may sell me something else like a strap or in the past servicing but i still have no issue trying things on.

DONT' BE ASHAMED OR SHY ABOUT TRYING ON DIFFERENT PRODUCTS. IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON A PRODUCT, IN THE FUTURE: YOU NEED TO MAKE AN INFORMED AND INTELLIGENT DECISION BASED ON EXAMING MANY DIFFERENT PRODUCTS. IN THIS CASE WATCHES- - - CAN APPLY TO TV'S OR CAR'S ALSO

You dont have to buy anything to browse. I usually tell them right up front that im not going to buy anything just so that they dont get their hopes up. Even saying that, I dont think ive ever had anybody that wasnt happy to take out whatever I wanted to let me try on anyway. It gives both of you something to do, and they know that you might change your mind some day and come back and get something from them.

Yea, don't feel bad about window shopping. If they are not too busy, the clerks shouldn't mind showing you their goods.

My .02 is to forget the model numbers first & just see which speaks to you. Reason being most new to Pam was advised that this model or that is best for a "first" Pam, only to flip it because Pams are all about the heart & not logic! Good luck trying the panties! :D
