I just ordered the Avenger Seawolf Chrono Blacksteel as my first Breitling timepeice, the start of my collection. I am 23 years old and my friends, family, girlfriend and pretty much everyone I know thinks I am crazy for spending that kind of money on a watch. Obviously I disagree!! Not only have I always wanted a Breitling, but over the past year I have become quite successful and the watch symbolizes this time in my life.
Anyways, I was just wondering how old were you when you purchased your first luxury timepiece and what was the motivating factor behind it?

I was 28 when I acquired my first Breitling. It was long long overdue. After living overseas for 2 years I had basically hummed hawed for another 2 years deciding what to get. Best decision I ever made and I haven't looked back!

I wanted one when I was 32 and never bought it. I finally talked myself into it. Funny how I now have 5 just three years later. Be careful, once the itch has been scratched, the seal is broken!

57 for me! Wanted one for years but could not justify spending that much on a watch so bought about 40 seiko's, citizens, Victorianox etc to satisfy the "itch". Thrilled with my purchase, but got a great deal from Costco. It is a Breitling Chrono Cockpit older style - 2008. Watched it drop over the course of 8 months from its original price of $4,999 to 3,999 to 2,999 and then finally grabbed it the day it dropped to 1,999.00. Still a lot of money to spend for a watch but for me, as a long time watch fanatic, it feels right and Ilove wearing it. I only regret not buying one earlier, but on the other hand with raising two kids, cashflow was restrictive for luxury purchases.
