I think a lot of people on this site got carried away with the bezel font - but I actually quite like it.

We should all remember that over the decades plenty of Breitling watches shocked people when they were first released...only to become design classics.

I agree in part. I'm personally not a big fan of the bezel font but it wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker. In a way it's good that the 1st B01 movement is in a watch that is different to the traditional models, adds a certain stature.

Very nice!

Hello all. I'm new to the forum as this is my first post. Just bought my Chrono B01 today in Carbon Black at my NYC AD. While I was there the Brietling rep. happened to be behind the Breitling counter and confirmed company plans to place the B01 movement in the Navitimer line next. Blackbird will follow in a few years time. Movement is modular so calendar date can be placed anywhere. I commented on how much I loved the dial, but wished the date window would have been done in black to match the dials. Rep stated I could always ask to have it swapped out for a black one "in around five to seven years" when I send it in for servicing. Doing that now was obviously not recommended. Hope someone finds this post useful, interesting, or both. This purchase makes Breitling number four in my collection, but this one's my favorite. They are in order of aquisition Superocean Blue Dial, Blackbird Black Dial Matted Steel and Chrono Evolution Rhodium Dial. Those three currently residing in the bank SDB for the time being while the Chrono B01 takes center stage.

That's all VERY good news (assuming it's more than just the AD rumour mill working overtime!) I'd heard the B01 movement will be making it's way into another model "soon", but it wasn't indicated what range that would be. The Navitimer range makes sense as it's Breitling's truly iconic range, and the completely obviously and sensible choice IMO. I'm just keeping everything crossed that whenever a B01 Navi does appear, it's going to be at least 43mm! If it ends up being in the old 41mm range, then I honestly just couldn't wear it.

I'll also be very interested to see what an in-house Blackbird might look like. If they plan to follow the current model's design, then they already have the tricompax dial layout with the B01 movement, so I guess they would just put a big date complication on it and drop it into a brushed Chronomatic B01 case with a special faceted bracelet. I like the sound of that!

Driver8,

I couldn't agree with you more. That's exactly how I forsee the next generation Blackbird. Next week I start saving for the next Bird. If the Rep is right I have "several" years.
I'm glad you found my post informative. This was the Brietling Brand Repesentative that happened to be at the store while I was making my purchase, and as the store was empty, AND I was wearing my Blackbird, both she and the GM of the AD (an very large AD chain) were able to give me their undivided attention and answer any questions I may have had. The Rep also told me about her tour of the new faclities where the B01 is made. Very impressive.

Anyway, I really like this watch and wanted to share my experience with those who would appreciate it.
Thanks for welcoming me to the site with your acknowledgement of my post.

Pete R.

I also wanted to expand on my first post. After viewing photos on the Internet and then using the Breitling configurator I intially went to the AD in NYC thinking I was going to purchase an Onxy Black/Steel combo. When I got to the store i tried that one on and liked it, but they also had a Carbon Black/Steel combo that I liked much better in person so that's the one I purchased. I also have a Tag Carrera, Omega Seamaster 8500, and a Datejust. Love my Breitlings the best though. After an over five year and one billion dollar developemental program, I am now proud to have one of the finest chronometers in the world upon my wrist.

That's a Datejust II. I will also will not wear a watch less than 41mm. Until Rolex made the larger dial, I had no interest. That being said, as far as mid-luxury Swiss watches go, IMO and experience, I would rank my collection in this order The Breitlings, Omega, Rolex, Tag, Victornox. The Rolex is the finer jewlery, not the finer watch. And I have a Victorinox Titanium Officer's not previously mentioned. Well, that's it for me for now.

As for the future Bird... If I don't spend my money on one bird, I'll just spend it on another.
Pete.

This is the exact next Breitling I would buy. It may be a while, but I will have this watch.

Welcome to the squadron patsc 23 :)

Great choice and wear your B01 well.

Finally some positive remarks about the B01 :D

I wonder how many of you guys that hate the B01 have seen it in "flesh".
