Review will come on the weekend, but here's a horrible shot to start you off.

First thoughts, this is a seriously aggressive watch. You aren't going to miss this on the wrist, and it's not an 'only' watch - I just can't imagine wearing it for anything close to a formal occasion.

However, this is a seriously impressive piece. My concerns about the subdial hands and date wheel looking out of place have gone away now that I have it in the steel, and it's also a very well finished watch. The case construction is also very interesting - I'll do a full write up with proper pictures this weekend.

Romain Jerome Extreme Rusted Steel T-Oxy III Chronograph (what a mouthful) with rusted steel from the Titanic in the bezel and a dial made from coal recovered from the Titanic.

That is certainly an interesting looking watch Roff. It definitely has a presence, I can see that already. I'm glad that it's arrived for you.

Looking forward, as always, to the write-up. I'll be interested to hear what you think after wearing it for a couple of days.

Nice "historic" watch. That'll be an heirloom for sure.

Very cool, Roff. For some reason I really like the shape of the hands and the XII marker, they work well with the overall design. Can I put in an advance request for a wrist shot when you do your review?

Congrats on the new arrival. It's a monster! I really enjoy the asymmetry of the dial - that kind if thing can go very wrong but it ends up looking really good.

Interesting tie-in with the Titanic.. Wonder how much coal/steel is actually in there?

Looking forward to the review!

I'm jealous, that's something I would plan on keeping forever. Too cool, and I also can't wait for a wristshot!

Thanks guys.

I have to be honest, when I first opened the packet I was hugely disappointed. I knew that there were no B&P, but the watch was shipped wrapped in bubble wrap in a small tupperware box stuffed into a FedEx envelope. As soon as the packaging was put aside and I strapped it on though it was a different story - this thing is incredible.

It's not perfect, and I'll address that in the review - there are a few areas where I think RJ could have shown a little more attention to detail - perhaps symptomatic of their financial troubles at the time. All in all though this is a great pick up - definitely pleased that I snagged it.

At the risk of being facetious.....

Rust coloured

It's made of rusted steel from the Titanic. It's been stabilized so it's actually a darker brown than the typical coppery red / brown that you usually associate with rust. That photo was taen last evening with my point and shoot and flash. Hopefully the natural light photos with the better camera will show the natural colour.

@ Altair, this definitely scratches the itch, especially combined with the Louis Moinet that arrived last week. Of course as you well know these itches tend to return. I actually had an opportunity last evening to buy a piece from another niche manufacturer that I have been looking at but passed on that (for now).
