The numerals and hands have Superluminova applied so you should be able to see them in the dark. The dial itself doesn't glow in the dark (if that was your question).

First, there are never stupid questions, this site was made for you to learn!

Does yours currently glow in the dark?

The superluminova numbers should be very bright in the dark after being exposed to a light source.

Let us know, if they do not glow then you may have a problem.

Thanks for helping. Currently mine are not glowing in the dark.

Do they have to be exposed to sun first in order for them to glow? should I leave them for few hours on my balcony to soak up the sun rays? Does it have to be sun or can it be light bulb?

My watch was serviced 2 years ago at BreitlingUSA

thanks again for helping out.

A few minutes of any light will be enough for it to glow.

It sounds like the SL is damaged, and that usually means water - a very bad thing.

Take it to an AD and get their opinion.

Just did flashlight for 5 minutes and still no glow. Watch is water resistant so I'm not sure how it got inside. I don't swim in it, take shower in it, i don't wear it near water source. Of course I didn't check it after it came back from service and just noticed it 2 days ago :). I guess its possible that breitling forgot to seal it after servicing but I didn't check it. I guess its time to send them in

That's very strange. My first inclination when someone mentions no or weak lume is that it is a replica since this is still the easiest way to tell (Chinese makers are too cheap to use Superluminova because it's very expensive).

Since it has been serviced by BUSA, then you know it's real. As Roff said, send it off and have them take a look. Water damage seems to be the most likely culprit.

Good luck.

While that is true given the quantities that have to be bought, even veryhigh lume watches generally have less than $1 worth of SuperLuminova.

Its definitely not a replica as it has been serviced by BUSA twice already. I had it for 9 years. I guess its time to send it off

Thanks for the help

Even though I doubt it woulod happen so soon, is 9 years of time enough for the SL to ge gone? Or too faint to see?

This is very odd. To have no lume glowing on a watch as recent as the Emergency (plus one that's been serviced by BUSA) is very strange indeed.

@ GZGym - SL doesn't deteriorate in the same way that tritium does as it doesn't work by radiation so doesn't have a half life, so there's no reason for no lume activity at all....apart from the already mentioned water damage.

I'll be interested to hear how this one turns out.

I'm not sure if its replaced during maintenance but I bought my watch in June of 2001. I had it serviced twice. First time it was free, and was done in 2003. Next time i paid $500 and it was done in 2008. Not sure if they replaced those parts though. I'm dropping it off today at AD so as soon as I know anything I'll update the thread. Watch is water resistant to 30m so I can't figure out how water got in there as I don't swim in it, don't shower while wearing them. I wore it when it was raining but rain should cause water damage. I guess I'll have to wait for BUSA to open it and tell me whats up

I'll also be waiting for this reply, very strange. There's no way wearing in the rain would do this. You could literally drop that to the deepest recreational diving depth and have no leakage. Hmmmm, sounds like a possible BUSA goof to be honest.

You have a yellow dial Emergency. Therefore the black numerals do not have any lume, only
small "dots" behind each number.

The blue, black/grey and coral dial Emergencies all have lumed numerals, and glow very well indeed.
