A former member on here might argue that your fat figure number is closer to where it should sell

But, alas, he was only willing to bid Euro 1117. [You can tell who it is because he bids on his own auctions.]

I think it would be a fun thing to have, but since you can't wear it, it's just a desk trophy for a collector. To my thinking, that limits it value to what a collector is willing to pay (well, me anyway), and a collector is going to want that complete kit that went by first time.

Breitling Grenchen is much more interested in the vintage Breitling La Chaux de Fonds legacy (see, in particular, The Book). It would not surprise me if we were to find that they are entering some of these auctions to build their historic collection. [But, that's shear speculation on my part.]

I think that's some real insight Bill.

We know that modern Breitling got very little history from hte pre-bankruptcy company, and they are clearly trying to play up the history of the brand - as you say The Book is an obvious example of that.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I bought it because I didn't. A good friend did that visits this forum occasionally.

It will be interesting to see how the Heuer sale goes at the end of the year. There was a Patrizzi Heuer themed sale last year but the feeling was that a lot of the watches were second tier, whereas the watches in the Haslinger collection are about as good as it gets. Tag-Heur have sponsored the sale and are clearly trying to promote their vintage credentials. Breitling would be a good bet for one of these, but they would need an amazing collection to sell first.

Let's see if Heuer bid on their own watches as Omega was accused of doing a few years ago.

Now watch the movie:
