I think I place my hands and arms in such a position that my band doesn't contact the table. I'll have to pay attention the next time I'm eating. I don't do this consciously. My general philosophy about my two Breitlings is basically "Scratches are part of owning a watch," particularly when I use them as tools in addition to dress pieces.

I tape bubble wrap on my watches when I wear them so they dont get scratched or smudged. It's very fashionable to walk around with a big bubble wrapped wrist.

My first AD called it patina. I haven't fully bought into that, I must confess. I reside between 2 and 3 on the survey.

I am definitely very conscious of where my wrist is in space, at most times, though I must confess the clasp on my 3 day old watch already as a small nick on it :violin:

I never have to put anything under my clasp because I never let it hit a surface. Never thought about putting a napkind under my wrist though, thats a good idea. I have just gotten so used to resting my arm down with my wrist kind of bridged up.

When Im at the office I slide my mouse pad all the way to the edge of the desk so it hangs over a little bit so my wrist lays on the wrist rest of the pad instead of hitting the desk. When I type I have learned to keep my wrist up also.

Oi! Where's that "ban" button!

To be fair, I do hate scratches and while I don't do anything like put a napkin underneath my wrist ( ), I do tend to be a more conscious of my watch if I'm wearing short sleeves. Luckily I live in the UK where the weather is usually so damn cold I've have little need for short sleeved shirts!

Most of the time though, being a little more careful with my watches has just become second nature, so doing things to avoid the worst scratches is not something I think about (if that makes sense!).

PS - I'm a "2" on the poll list for most, and a "3" when it comes to beaters. (So I guess even my beaters aren't what a lot of people would call beaters! )

You guys actually wear them?

I just keep them in a box and occasionally rub them with an old diaper.

 The only "old" diapers I've ever seen tend to be errr.... "pre-owned" by small children and look like they should be handled only by someone wearing a full NBC suit! Not sure I'd fancy wiping down my watch with one of them!
