What do you think the best dive style watch under $1000 - auotomatic of course and not the Cave Dweller which I already have.

Oris has some nice ones, the Titan and TT1. Don't discount Seiko, yea yea I know; but if you're wanting a dive watch to dive with; the Orange Monster is a respected watch.

Invicta makes some really nice dive watches for under $1,000.00, also some great "daily beaters". Checkout this website and you can even watch the shows live via the Internet. Checkout www.shopnbc.com .

That's almost word for word what I would've said!

What I would say though is the Seiko "Monster" watches (orange and black) are considerably cheaper than 1000 USD. As such they are pretty hardy but the movement is nothing to write home about at all. On the plus side it's incredibly simple (not even a hacking feature) so there's not much to go wrong. On the negative side it's incredibly simple (not even a hacking feature  ), and the one I owned gained time like you would've believe, plus it's not overly refined, but then considering that the entire movement is probably never touched by a human hand throughout it's construction, I guess you can't be too picky! And it's seriously cheap!

Oris would be the choice for me, but I guess you may struggle to buy one new for under 1000 USD. But if you can pick one up, then they are a different class to the Monster.

i just bought a mint Oris titan chrono. its 47mm and 1000m water resistant.
i paid 1400$, because i wanted one NOW, but i have seen some for less.
i had a Oris small second wich is also 47mm and 1000m WR, and i paid 1100$ for it brand new.

i think they are very nice divers for that price.

Can't pull off a 47. 44 to 45 is about it. But I really like thelook of theOris.

the Oris wear smaller than other watches, because the lugs are integrated in the bracelet, and the shape of the case
if you can wear 44mm watches, you can wear a 47mm Oris for sure.

If you can pull off a SOHC you can probably pull off a 47mm Oris. They don't wear that large because they're only 44mm across the bezel.

Another vote for Oris. I have one, although not a diver, and can definitely speak to the quality. You can get a diver for around $1,000 so I say go for it.

Of course the Seiko Monster isn't a bad watch at all either and at more than 1/5th the cost, you can get one of those and then something else; not that you haven't bought a watch for a while or anything

thanks again. Here's my only issue with Oris- I got the BC4 chorono and it's a nice watch, heavy, keeping good time. But with a medium gloss dial and seemingly little to no AR, it's like looking in a mirror - literally - and ya'll have never seen me so you don't know how important AR is to me. But a bigger concern is the crown stem has a lot of play - lateral wobble to it. I don't know if that's standard for Oris or not. Otherwise it seems to be a tank.
