....In fact, it's way better than "not actually too bad" : it's actually damn nice!

I stopped by my AD in town today on the way for a Starbucks (as you do) and they had a few of the new models in so I spent a few mins having a look at them.

The SOHC with the black dial and green bezel is a pretty nice looking thing but not quite as striking as I thought it would be. Could be the ADs lighting though. They also had a number of new Galactic models but they all just passed me by to be honest. In fact when I was looking in the window I didn't even notice them to start off with.

However the best of the bunch by some margin is the new Chronospace. It's another one of those watches that looks a million times better in real life than in pictures. Sure the 3 and 9 are a little on the large side, but the brushed case and "saw tooth" bezel works really well. And it also didn't seem as big as it's dimensions suggest, probably due to it's quite low profile. If I was currently in the market for a quartz watch then this one would be it, especially if I could land one of the LE flight team models without the huge numbers. I really liked it.

Oh and just a little off topic - the in-house manufacture Cartier pieces are really spectacular. We worth a look especially considering the RRP is 4300 GBP for the steel model. Good value for an in-house piece.

That's good news on the Chronospace. I replied to a post not long ago that I actually liked the design.
Haven't seen it yet in person - hope to this week. The 48mm is probably a deal breaker for me but I still will take a look at it - maybe desk clock?

Good to hear that it's a nice piece. Never going to be a quartz piece guy, but the Professional range needs something to get people excited.

 Man, I am SO glad none of the ADs I visited recently has one in stock 'cause 1) I absolutely don't mind quartz; 2) the 48mm is the best size for me; 3) I don't want my wife to divorce me!!

The more I think about Breitling's Professional range, the more I can see the point of the new Chronospace now. At first it seemed a silly, pointless piece to me, but actually, Breitling really needed to add a 46mm or larger watch to the Professional line. I'm not too fond of the huge arabic numbers, but then again, 48mm is out question for my skinny wrist anyway.

However, I hope next year we'll see a new movement in the Professional range, instead of just cosmetic changes on design and size pump-ups. I'd love to have independent display function change, e.g. to display day of the week on the top LCD, and digital time (or UTC) on the bottom LCD. I guess it would require adding a new crown to the left side, but when it comes to professional instruments, I think that would be just fine. It'd also be great to have LCD display brightness adjustment, colour LCD, radio control, solar charging, kinetic charging, GPS, digital compass, maybe (just maybe) Bluetooth cell phone connection. I don't think turning the watch functions a bit Japanese would make a Professional range watch "less of a Breitling".

Different strokes I guess.

I could do without LCD display brightness (the current setting on my Wolf is fine, I'd figure it's the same on the Aerospace/Chronospace), and personally, I don't want a lot of functions that I simply wouldn't use... compass, bluetooth, solar? Eh.

What I WOULD like, is for the 2nd timezone, to be able to choose from different world cities. Casio watches already do this. I guess it could lead to problems down the road, i.e. if they decide to change daylight savings dates again, as they did a few years ago in the U.S., the watch would now display incorrect times for certain other world cities that didn't make the change.

Not saying that certain features wouldn't benefit others, or that they shouldn't desire them, I wouldn't be that presumptious. However, for ME, I'd like to keep it relatively simple (which is one of the great things I LOVE about the Wolf, very easy to change 2nd time, alarm times, alarm on/off without refering to the manual). With my casio's, if I haven't used them in a month or so, I have to refer back to the manual, which I have on my computer in PDF. I like NOT needing to do that with my Breitling.

I don't know, I'm not real sure I would even want a B78 successor that has many more functions than it currently has. Maybe if it incorporates a couple of the functions from the B78's non-thermocompensated cousin, the ETA E20.321, such as the agenda alarm and the constant date window, I'd be cool with that. I had thought that having the city name for the "T2" display would be nice, but then I realized that when I wanted to track the time in Taipei, I'd rather have the watch say "T2" than "Hong Kong". As for all the other functions, to me that's what my G-Shock is for. I'd like my Breitling to be simple (not an overwhelming amount of functions), elegant (good functional design, which the B78 offers), and inherantely accurate (thermocompensated, no radio control).

Mine is waiting for me in my AD,

Just waiting for a transfer to take place and the pics will follow!

Silver dial on matt mesh

The mesh from my SO Heri will fit it too as will the ocean racers.....might look sweet!

Wash your mouth out with soap and water young man

B2 is Breitling 42 powered - ETA 2892 based mechanical - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... al_30.html

A very under appreciated watch in my opinion - I like to think of it as a Hercules with a date.

I really like the older B2 silver dial/white subs with the baton markers! Haven't seen any for sale for a while.
