Could one of you more informed guys explain not too technically the basic difference between my Super Avenger and the Bentley Motors chronograph both in steel and with the equivalent bracelets........the difference in price is £3,320........quite significant.......is there a significant difference in movement or extra functions to warrant this please? :?

Well......

Let's start with the movements. The movements in Bentleys are technically different to the non Bentleys (they have a suffix of B for the same caliber) that is supposed to indicate a higher level of finishing. That's a debatable benefit when you can't see them and performance wise they are the same (both COSC).

The SA has the B13 movement that is based on the Valjoux 7750, while the B25B in the Motors has an ETA 2892 base - that's modular with a time only movement bolted to the chrono. The 7750 is an integrated chrono. The B13 is also in many Breitlings, the B25B is unique to the Motors series and has a 30 second chronograph, unique in Breitlings.

In terms of fit and finish the Bentley os more refined, something that you really have to see and feel to appreciate, and technically the design and construction is more advanced in Bentleys. The Aeromarine range has cases that are pretty much made from one chunk of steel, while Bentleys are more modular. As an example, if the screw down crown threads get stripped on a Bentley a raplacement sleeve can be supplied, in the Aeromarine range the threads are integral to the centre case.

There is also a significant difference between the Pro II and Speed bracelets, again handling them will really show you the difference.

Of course the name is also part of it, there is little doubt that the Bentley range has a higher profit margin than the Aeromarine range.
