OK, lets assume I've decided to get a brand new Blackbird in the brushed/satin finish.
I can't stretch to the bracelet and besides it tends to make the watch look a little big on me compared to say the Ocean racer and leather/croc straps.
So I'm ordering it on the Breitling croc strap on deployment (not tang buckle) and also buying an Ocean Racer & deployment to give me another option or if I decide it may get wet.

Which colour croc (not standard calf hide/leather) strap do you think will look the best?

A dark brown, a lighter tan brown or perhaps the black?
Would a black croc be too similar to the black OR rubber or are they different enough to give a totally different look to the watch from each other?
Would a brown croc be required to give that diversity or is it just not suited to the BB style and look?

If I go for the BB it will clean me out financially so it must be a combo that will tick all my boxes (Dress, beach, casual) and not give me cause to regret not going for two cheaper watches in place of the one watch i.e Omega PO AND an SMP or whatever...?

Is the BB suitable to be worn as a dress or formal watch with a suit etc or is it too tool like and bulky?

I tried a Chrono evo on black croc on in an AD the other day and was pleasantly surprised at how supple the thick OEM croc was! I expected it to be so stiff that it would just drop straight down my wrist without first curving around a little, thus making it look like all watch head and no strap. That was not the case. Perhaps the watch had been on a stand for so long that the strap had been "broken in" or perhaps that's just how they are (I hope so!)

Opinions and of course pics are welcome, appreciated and will be of great help in deciding. In particular wrist shots?

Thanks,

Mac. :lingsrock:

Have you tried the configurator on the Breitling site?

http://www.breitling.com/en/index.php#/models/windrider/blackbird/

I don't think the black croc would be different enough to the black OR so I would look for maximum contrast and go with the gold croc.

you should go for a brown croco, IMO the brown croco is the only that is comparable to the unique pilot bracelet in terms of overall quality and looks

it looks fabulous!!!

I tend to stay more monochromatic, or matching as my wife would say. So my vote would be black. That said, that brown looks really sharp! :lingsrock:

Thanks but I've tried it and it doesn't allow for the Ocean Racer or any Croc straps.
Only the bracelet and plain leather.

Cometman, Bucky,

Can I ask if those are the same colour strap? They look very similar but of course they could be quiet different in the "flesh"?
Cometman I think I asked you for the strap reference already but have somehow deleted your reply  Was it ....740P?
There are no croc options on the Breitling website although I only looked on the Blackbird ection, perhaps I'll take a look at others for the croc options.

Thanks.

Errrr, well yes  it seems that if I scroll down on the BB section the croc options are there

There are two options "Brown" or "Gold" no reference numbers are given.
Which one is on your watches Cometman & Bucky? Looks more like "Gold" than the "Brown"?

:)

I wore mine for all occasions (except when it stood a good chance of getting hit) and never gave a second thought to it not being dressy enough. IMO, it's a great looking watch that isn't flashy, making it suitable for a tux, suit, sports shirt, or t-shirt. With it's mix of brushed and polished surfaces, I think it is an ideal pick for mixed occasions.

Then again, I rarely care what others think of my fashion choices!

To the OP (and CM as you well know until recently I had the BB polished model.) it looked beautiful on Breitling Brown (the darker brown) calf or croco. I preferred the croco because such a fine watch screamed out for it. I tried it on Breitling gold(light brown) calf and croco and it just didn't work.

Brown or black looks great. I've never worn a black dial that didn't look just smashing on dark brown. Go CROCO!

You have to scroll down for the croc. They are beneath the leather.

This is the Tobacco 740p. There are three (please correct me if wrong guys) brown deploy straps.

The gold;

Not too sure on the light Brown.

I found these pics on my travels.
They are not mine and I would like to thank the owner for them. I did PM asking permission a few days ago but have recieved no reply so I'm hoping He won't mind? If He does I will happily remove them.

There is also a nice wrist shot so as it also shows the owner (or part anyway) I hope again He doesn't mind, after all it was originally posted on a forum so I presume it's no secret?

Looks good on that strap doesn't it?
