However as a group the Navitimer buyer is different from the Aeromarine buyer or the Professional buyer, and they all get the same catalogue.

Then I guess that leaves me with "confused." :?

Hi All!

I just got off the phone with BUSA - they stated that we in America will not get the new Chronolog 2010 until Mid-May 2010 - when their maketing department will start mailing them out!

Best Regards,

Enezdez

Thanks. Should I call then or will they send one out automaticly?

Here's my theory:

The B01 movement is a problem. They are having either manufacturing or reliability problems with it and they are either canceling the project or slowing it down.

Otherwise why wouldn't they be putting it in other cases like a Navitimer. Everyone knows that's what people want.

Look at what they did instead, they came out with the Galactic line that has B01 styling with ETA movements.

Sorry but personally I can't see Breitling canning the B01 in a million years. Apart from the guy on this forum with a problem I've not seen any evidence at all yet of it being a particularly issue-prone movement. Sure it's new and all that but I just can't see it being the next 3313. And when you look at the 3xxx series (which HAS had well documented problems) Omega didn't bin the whole program. No they marketed it and put it in lots of watches. Additionally it wasn't even fully built by Omega so they undoubtedly had less time and money invested in it than Breitling clearly has in the R&D of the B01. Secondly if they were looking to drop it they wouldn't create a whole separate catalogue for it. But irrespective of that, it would have to be worst movement design in the history of watch making (which it clearly isn't) for Breitling to look to drop it after a single year of production!

Obviously none of that answers why they don't even mention it in the Chronolog, but hey I've not understood Breitlings ideas for a while now! Why they don't put it in a Navi..... well, god knows, but maybe your comment about the manufacturing capacity is correct, and maybe they just can't produce that many yet. Or maybe it's just another bizarre marketing decision by the head honchos. Who knows, but I'm pretty certain that the B01 movement will be around for a long time to come.

Maybe their marketing team had another of their great ideas? "Hey, let's remove our inhouse model from the catalogue and make it more mystic/desirable" As we all know by now, they are very confident in their marketing team and don't need to take customers/potential customers into consideration.

Let's just put it short - if I was a shareholder, I'd be looking to shift my shares.

Being family owned, there's no shareholders to account to.

Perhaps that's part of the marketing problem. The owners tell the marketing department what to do rather than the customers.

It's exactly the opposite: the marketers tell the customers what to do.

Ive had my B01 now for a while and its running like a charm. No problems whatsoever. In Australia, the B01 is a popular watch, been to an Australian dealer, theyre claiming that Breitlings and IWCs have become the serious watch choice for many. The B01 is leading the Breitling charge to that effect, indeed rumours are that Breitling will be opening a 2nd office in Australia to handle all Breitling product stuff. As for B01- IMHO theyre not going to ditch it, they spent to much on it for them to cut it and its simply a great watch which fits perfectly into the Breitling range.

The Bentley catalog is separate and distinct as well. The separate B01 catalog looks to my eyes like the continuation of some sort of product 'tiering' strategy.

Does anybody think Breitling would ever consider dropping the Navitimer?

Well, it's not a top quality picture but here's one with the superb F-16:

When I visited their booth at BaselWorld and asked for a catalog, the lady gave me the "Pure Breitling" AND the B01 without having to ask. They did not give away the Bentley catalog though. She told me to go through my AD.

And, if it is any consolation for you guys, even being in Switzerland, no AD will have the Pure Breitling before mid-May. At least, that's what I've been told by a couple of them.

Yes, I'm very well aware of that. I just tried to make the point "if...". :D

Maybe possible explanation for catalogs?
What if Breitling puts out one catalog called "Pure Breitling" for their original ETA, Valjouix(sp?), etc movement watches since these are their DNA/history products.

They then put out a second catalog for their new in-house movement watch(es), just the B01 so far, but plan on adding new models in the future. This is the "next generation" Breitling.

That leaves the Bentley line, a third catalog? We are going to need a Breitling backpack to carry all these home from the AD.
Anyway, just my thoughts.

Well, in 2009 there were at least three distinct catalogs:

Chronolog 09, B01 (even though there actually were two distinct B01 catalogs) and Breitling for Bentley.

There have always been three catalogues - Chronolog and Breitling for Bentley published in the fall and then Runway containing the Basel announcements. Last year it made sense to split the B01 from the regular Runway as it was such a significant announcement.

However this year Breitling moved Chronolog publication to post Basel so as to avoid the publication of Runway (because Basel announcements could be included in the Chronolog - now Pure Breitling I guess). That clearly makes sense, and I won't even argue that it makes sense to have a separate B01 catalogue, what makes no sense is to have no mention of B01 in the main catalogue.
