A sign of the times: almost exactly a year ago, I walked into my local Macy's without any plans to buy a watch. Although I didn't know it beforehand, their Friends and Family sale (as well as some other promotion) was going on. I walked out with a Steelfish on bracelet for just under $1,700.

Last weekend, I went to my local Macy's with no plans to buy a watch or even look for a watch. Unbeknownst to me, it was the first day of their Friends and Family presale. I walked out with a $99 Casio GA100 for just under $75.

When I realized this, I thought it was kind of funny, though still sad of course.

Interesting, none of the Macy's anywhere near me sell Breitlings.

Congrats,
Mark

I think Hawaii has the only one that does.

Sad maybe....amazing, yes! What kind of Macy's do you live near??! Im constantly on the road and have shopped at almost every Macy's between Washington DC and NYC. I've never seen a Breitling in a department store!

A few years back, Macy's bought out a local department store chain that was called Liberty House. A few years before the buyout, Liberty House opened a separate store in the Ala Moana Shopping center called The Jewel Gallery. That store specialized in better jewelry and higher-end watches (including Breitling), than what was normally sold in the regular store. When Macy's bought out Liberty House, they also got The Jewel Gallery and became (as far as I know) the only Macy's that is a Breitling AD.

Well Ross, it could be worse. You could live someplace other than Hawaii!
