I have just picked up a brand new Navi Word, white dial. After reading all the posts regarding the low water resistance of the Navi line I am wondering if it is OK to clean it in warm water with dish soap and a soft toothbrush as I do my Steelfish and did my chronomat (before I traded it for the Navi) or if I should steer clear of the water all together.

Others may disagree, but a 30m watch should be able to withstand a gentle washing under a tap or in a bowl. 30m of static pressure is 44psi. I doubt you'd come close to that.

I agree with dhalem. In my experience Navis are more hardy than some people give them credit for. I certainly wouldn't swim in one but I don't have a panic attack if my World gets wet when I wash my hands! I clean my World using soap and a very soft toothbrush under a running tap. I don't have the tap blasting out, but its more than just dripping - more like just a gentle constant flow, and it's been perfectly fine. Not sure I'd totally submerge it, but that's just me. As long as the bezel is quite tight I don't see a problem with a little moisture.

Agreed.

I don't submerge because I don't like the idea of water 'sitting' between case and bezel where you can't get at it, but I'm certainly not afraid of a gently running tap.
