Why are all past posts that are extremely old kept on the site? Or, even from the Buy, sell, trade section... the Sold items from a while back still there?

Just curious.... I feel as though after a certain amount of time they should be taken off!

Personally speaking I look to look through all the old posts now and again especially when you are doing a search. Some of the info from 2 or 3 year ago can still be relevant so members today.

Cheers :D :lingsrock:

It's also a great way of learning about the forum members that have been here hence since the site's inception and also what was talked about 2-3 years ago. I wouldn't like to see those old posts go at all.

I'm in agreement that, subject to availability of space on the server, it's good to keep old posts.

You can delete your own posts if you wish by clicking on edit and checking the delete box at the top of the post.

The other guys have given the answer I wouldve that it's a great resource for answering recurring questions (provided people use the search function! ) and also just spreading knowledge, but I must be honest, I'm curious as to why you'd want old posts to be removed. :huh Im always of the opinion that more information is better than less, and if info was removed this place would be devalued as a result. All the time there is enough storage space, then info should stay IMO.

Oh and while Sharky quite rightly said that you can delete your own posts, we'd rather people didn't do it as a rule as it often renders threads completely meaningless if there are answers to non-existent questions.

I'm with others on this one - I see no upside to deleting old posts.

The benefit is limited if people don't use search, but then they don't all read the 'Read this first' sales rules either so no surprise.

There are serveral occasions when I have been able to reference previous discussions to resolve things very quickly - 409A bracelet question from a couple of days ago being the most recent.
