There's a pic in Altro's Chronomat article on WUS showing a 1996 Blackbird on a bracelet with these circles.
Hi. Whats 13 years old!!
The bracelet was produced in 1997 - that's why it is cheaper. It will have had quite a lot of wear and won't fit modern watches so has less appeal.

so maybe this culd be a Pilot for Blackbird, early version... because then they made the special Pilot bracelet with hangular links for the Blackbird..
this explains why we never seen a pilot with those circle markers..

It is for a Chronomat / Duograph as it says on the endlinks.

I think the more likely explanation is that the manufacture process / design changed in early 1997. Alan's piece is from 1996, this is from January 1997 and there don't seem to be any examples much later - you said that your 1997 one didn't have them.

Let's be careful though before making declarations like "it's a replica" when that's not accurate - these don't come up very often and if the OP had missed it because of your incorrect assertion he may have been faced with months more of looking.

No harm done mate. :)

God, i might not even win it! If it doesn't fit for whatever reason, i'm quite sure i'll be able to sell it back on at roughly the same price i may pay for it.

Indeed and thanks. :)

I thoroughly expect it to be around £300 when it goes....much higher than that and i doubt it's worth it, as there are what looks like new ones available for around £400.

It is polished and with normal links, so it's not.

Yes, but old BB end links should be the same (see Sharky's photo), just brushed.

Yeah I realise that it's the same case, but I thought that the BB (brushed) had the different name stamped - away from home though so going on memory.

It would be logical to made a distinction between them (apart from the finish), but they didn't.
