I shower with my Seawolf & miss it when I am in the shower without it. I like to know what time it is while showering!
The only time that I dont have it on is when I am wearing a Navitimer.

No, no, no. I'm certain Shadow was being ironic as in he actually IS hurtin' from the scratch on his 212 despite what he said ('cause he's a delicate little flower... ).

Of course noone likes dings or scratches on their expensive watches. I feel for the OP. (perhaps the chrono pusher was accidentally activated while in the shower?). But still I don't feel showering falls in the realm of pushing the boundaries of abuse for a 300m watch. I shower with warm water after all, not scalding boiling water...

Clearly showering is not a high risk activity for a high WR watch - enough people do it every day without consequence toprovide anecdotal evidence of that. I would like to know what kind of pressures you get in a shower to know whether there should be any concerns - I'm guessing the 30 ATM of pressure that equates to 300M is still considerably higher than a shower, but that is just a guess.

When the service center gets the watch back it's pretty simple to determine if it's the wearer's fault or an issue with the watch. They put it under pressure with everything tightened down. If it leaks, the watch has an obvious point of intrusion; if it doesn't, something wasn't tightened down correctly when the it was exposed to water.

Hi to all you guys, and thanks for the input the outcome is that everyone could be right.....
The guys who wouldnt shower with their Ling on i do know and respect what you say,to those like me who use the shower facility to clean the watch as well as keeping it on at all times.
Well i took it to the dealer where i bought it from and he says the same as Bere4421.......
They have had returns with water ingress because of the crown not being fastened down tight when using it in water, they have had one which had a crown that was off centre and let in water over a longer period than mine. But if they do find a fault then BUK will correct it and return the SA in as new condition.....(its as new now) no scratches or swirls even under the spy glass............he says they will replace the crystal as the coating will be affected.
Meanwile i had a good look at other models in a different light from my first visit when i had one model on my list ..........i tried a few on and the Montbrilliant Legende Silver Dial with the navi bracelet looked an option.........couldnt fasten it as the bracelet wasnt set big enough for my fat wrists..........of course the usual offer for mine against it was forthcoming....but that would be too big a drop........all the years waiting and a small fault turns you right off the model you cherish.........unless it does prove to be my fault.......but how do we know that i can swear on a stack it wasnt me......but they can still say it was....for whatever reason.
I do hope the garuntee is holding and it is put right ........so after 3 months im in a quandry re the garuntee........on a £3,300.00 watch

My shower can get very hot - much hotter than I can stand, but my fiancée can turn it all the way up and love it. I guess the point is a "hot shower" is relative. It may be find to wear your watch in the shower for some, but maybe not all.

thermal expansion, rapid cooling, condensation - these are powerful forces. Water pressure is probably the least of the problems.

A shower in my opinion is tougher on a watch than diving, swimming, sweating, raining or any water you can throw at it.

For instance - The air in the watch expands 15% during the shower and contracts the same amount when you get out. The metal parts may grow even more. The growth could cause the seals to let air permeate (like gore-tex) and still be mostly water tight. The air coming in has some relative humidity, in the case of the shower it might be pretty high.

For argument's sake let's say the relatively humidity was just 30%. At 110 - 120°F shower temperatures, the humidity will condensate out easily and rapidly when dropped back to 70°F.

Colin.......its suprising but you arnt far from the truth in some cases........there is care and attention, there is being fanatical, but there is also another step above that.........those guys still have a point at times though............everyone to their own i suppose.

The shower isnt even close to being hot enough to have ANY impact on the metal or the gaskets. You'd have serious burns to your body before for there to be concern for the well being of your watch. That being said, I dont shower with my watch because it just seems strange. I tried it once after reading about how many people do it, and it ended up being just as strange as I had expected .

To OP, hopefully things work out for you. Bad things are bound to happen to Breitlings sometimes, but the most important thing is how the problem is handled by BUK.

I think you have to fathom what 300 METRES pressure is like, before comparing to the paltry pressures hot showers can have on the metal casing or gases inside the watch no matter how scaldingly hot.

My mom had a 30m quartz watch she showered with everyday for 10 years (until my brother bought her a new watch) with zero problems other than regular battery changes.

I also don't buy the "dangerous" strong shower jet theory. My Pam 193 is a fully mechanical watch with electronic Depth Gauge built in. At the back there are narrow channels through which water will "press" against a membrane which allow the electronics to measure water depth. The instruction manual said "to clean, direct a strong jet of water at the channels". This watch has a wr of "only" 120m.

Trust me, there ain't no way showers could damage the OP's 300m rated SA unless there was a prior defect or the crown came loose or the chronos were accidentally pushed. Otherwise you'd think the manual would have a "SWIM & DIVE OK -- BUT DO NOT SHOWER" warning, no?

Shower with your watch or don't, as you prefer. But to not do it because of concern of water intrusion on a 300m Breitling imho is doing a disservice to a great brand. (Just my .02 of course! )

yep! I can't really stare anymore because the glass has an opague white coating all over it now.

I'm pretty darn serious, lol. I don't feel a need to shower with my 3 or 4 or 5 thousand dollar watches on, why? I keep it as clean as I can when wearing it and when it's not on my wrist. The quality of water isn't that great everywhere you tend to go as well, so why run the risk? I have less expensive watches that I workout in, mow the yard in, swim in, etc, G-Shocks or what have you so there's no need for me to become upset with myself for managing to destroy my watch because of my own recklessness, but as all the others say, to each his own.
