Noted Sharkman's comments

I've never received a "wow that's a nice Breitling." I do get, "nice watch. what is that?"

Laughing
Actually I have had a lot of wow, thats a nice Breitling comments....not helped by the fact that I have had to roll up my cuff to mid forearm because the watch won't fit with closed cufflink!!

I hate myself for flaunting the B01 but then again the nonbelievers need the subliminal messages!

Well once I received a "NICE Breetling!" I don't count that one.

I've discovered many "subtle" ways for my shirt sleeve to magicaly rise to reveal my watch. Any teenager who mastered the "yawn followed by arm around date" can easily conquer these techniques.

True, I am a sad case.

Well, the simple answer is that I wanted something different.

I have owned two Rolexes in the past; a Submariner and a GMT Master II. I enjoyed both of those watches immensely. I traded the Sub in for the GMT, and the GMT was traded in on a lens. (A 300 f/2.8... :-) ) For a while I didn't have a Swiss automatic, and eventually that void was filled. First with a CWC UK Military Chrono, and secondly by a Glycine Airman GMT.

I still have both of those watches, but I have been looking for a decent high end watch for quite a while. I briefly considered getting another Rolex GMT, but I thought to myself: I've already had a pair of Rolexes, time to try something new. IWC was next. While I like much of what IWC has to offer, to be blunt, the IWC watches I liked the most were a bit out of my budget. (The Portuguese Chrono was my top choice...)

And then I took a closer look at Breitling again. Breitling was always one of those watches I liked, but for one reason or another dismissed. Usually (Heretically?), I was put off by the busyness of the dial. I've grown a bit more fond of the Breitling look lately, but still, it wasn't a frontrunner.

And then I saw the SuperOcean Heritage Chronograph... and I *had* to have one. (My second choice was a SO Steelfish X.)

The SOHC is the epitome of everything I am drawn to in a watch. Simple, clean, and a strong design. Beautifully built, and the mesh bracelet adds an understated, yet refined and classic appeal. To me, the SOHC is everything I looked for in a new watch.

Until I get a Montbrillant Olympus. A perpetual has been on my list for quite a while...

.
