So I have to admit that I am not so impressed with Breitling right now.

I sent my watch in for its first 5 year service since my GMT automatic is beginning to lose about 5 minutes a month. I was hoping that a $2000 watch would keep near exact time. My cheaper watches always did.

I was a little surprised that the cost would be $320. I was even more surprised when Brietling quote back was $742. Much of this was optional service but I did have to replace the hands ($74) because it needs to be done with every overhaul.

It just seems a little pricey.

you stated most of it was optional. You can't complain about the price if you did optional services then say the overhaul was too exspensive.

I'm still not sure why they don't figure the price of the hands in the overhaul.?

5 years is a decent service window for any watch. And as for the price, well unfortunately that's the downside of owning a prestige brand. It's the same with cars - a service on a Ford is going to cost you a damn sight less than a service on a Ferrari.

With the exception of the fact that the hands cost should be included in the service quote as mr.clean says as it is mandatory then I have to say that I don't see the issue either.

Breitling never hides the fact that these pieces need servicing and the service costs are readily available. Breitling does have a monopoly on servicing with OEM parts and that doesn't help with the cost, but they are no different from any other luxury watch brand.
