i like the pams but i agree with some of the other guys for the money im rocking a :lingsrock: . i think that you should break down your choice by look and diameter size. sometimes the diameter size might be the look. do you like a busier looking dial or a more simplistic one. what color dials do you like? do you like straps or bracelets? Rubber or leather? with so many variations the best bet is try to hit an AD that has the 3 brands you like in house.

I love Panerai's and will be getting one soon, but the problem with them are price and the little difference between the models. I am not a fan of the 177 but if you like that model I would say its a nice watch that you can play with different straps for a different look.

To me a Panerai needs a sandwich dial and a display back. My short list include the 111, 112, 233, 312.

Omega makes a nice watch but I dont personally care for the stylings of most of thier models, including the PO's. One to concider is the Speedmaster moon. Nice display back and a good history behind the model.

The Brietling list includes everything BUT the last few offerings. There are way too many models to choose from and you really need to decide where you will be wearing this next watch and what you will be doing while wearing it. For example,if you are an avid swimmer or diver, you might rethink the navitimer range because of the lack of water resistance.

You have a nice dilemma . . .

All of these are nice choices. Since you already have a Chrono Avenger, it's tough to get a Breitling watch that's bigger and more robust. I'd go with the Panerai, but the best advice has been given: try them on and go with the one that appeals to you.

I have been trying on watches and I cannot make a Breitling bracelet pinch or pull on my wrist hair, even if I try. Other brands catch the arm hair, and I never would know this without trying them on.

Peace

Mike

What about a Bentley? That would be different enough from your other two Breitlings,

I never really warmed to the PO series, and there are just too many other watches I want for $6K to get a PAM.

For me, I really like Panerai, but the downer with the 177 is three-fold - firstly it's titanium which I generally dislike, secondly it's not got a sandwich dial (which if you're buying a Panerai is a definite requirement IMO), and thirdly it's not got one of their in-house movements (although to be fair, unless you look at a B01 Chronomat, none of your options have an in-house movement). Personally I think the 312 is the one to go for....... or the 270 if you win the lottery!

The PO is certainly a nice enough piece and you will find few complaints about it, BUT it's sooooooooo common these days, and (dare I say) just a little ordinary.

Saying "a Breitling" covers a multitude of options and out of the choices you've given above, I'd say the Breitling option is bound to have something that fits the bill. If you want big and chunky you have SA's, AS's and SW's. If you want finer and classic, you have the Navi's. If you want something halfway-house then you have the Chronomats/BB's.

As Sharkmouth said, try a few on a see what yanks your chain.

Thanks guys, you sent me so many great comments and recommendations that I maybe have to rethink my choice :-)

Just had a look to the Breitling site and maybe I will try a Super Ocean Heritage 46 or the new Wave Super Ocean in yellow.

What do you think about that?

Pat

I am in the minority here in that I really think the new Superocean is a sharp sports watch. But since you were looking for something big and bold, just remember it's only a 42mm watch.

I was at my AD today getting some spring bars for my Heritage 46 and SOHC and they didn't even know about the new Superocean. Had to show them online.

Right now I'm wearing the Heritage46 on the mesh bracelet.

Whatever you decide enjoy the journey.
