I like them. Not cheap for a generic movement (although it is modified to a high standard by IWC), and some of the IWC purists hate the styling of the new version, but I'd be very happy to have one.

Said it all.

IWC do indeed modify the standard ETA quite significantly - possibly more than Breitling, although no-one's ever seemed to be able to get a definitive answer from Breitling as to what exactly they modify.

This is a good article about what IWC do to their ETA's -

http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/Series/IWCG ... ments.html

The new Aquatimer is more of a "usual-looking" diver's watch with the external uni-directional bezel, whereas the older Aquatimer had the more funky (and preferred by IWC enthusiasts) internal rotating divers bezel.

Both are nice designs though.

I like the new aquatimers. Good size (44mm). The 2000 is only 14mm in height which is nice - not too chunky. Weight is about 147g on rubber (not official). I would consider one but my local AD gives no discount on these so price is a factor. Lume shots look very nice also.
Good luck.

I think its pretty nice. I was always put off by the integrated strap on the old aquatimers. I was offered one in a pretty good trade a while back but I just couldnt get over it (but that internal bezel sure looked good).

Interesting, thanks for the insight. I'm not in the market, but can feel myself getting the bug you all warned me about.

Wow! That is one of the coolest catalogs I have ever seen. I'm surprised my laptop didn't crash.

Peace

Mike
