Hi Guys,
I´m thinking of buying a new watch this year, but I need your help.

There are 3 watches which are interesting for me.

1. PAM 177
2. Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean
3. A Breitling, not sure which model

What do you think?

Pat

Unlike many on here, Panerai watches leave me cold so that one's out.

The PO is a good watch although I don't like the orange used on it.

As for Breitlings, lots' of great models and not many I don't like.

Try them all on and let your heart decide.

I'm kind of with Sharkmouth, I don't quite get the Panerai buzz. They are certainly nice, but the hype and prices are overwhelming.

I love everything about the PO, probably the only Omega I would consider. Omega is a great brand no doubt, but you may see your exact watch around town a little more than you like.

Breitling has 2 attributes that I absolutely love: The stylish yet distinctly masculine build of the pieces, and the fact that you don't see one every day. To me it's more of a watch guy's brand than it is something everyone aspires to own someday.

These are just my opinions though. Ultimately, I would buy whatever looks/feels best on your wrist. Let's not kid ourselves, all 3 choices are dynamite.

Hey KV and Sharkman,

you are right, the Panerai is very often seen and more a hype watch I would say.

The PO ist for me the only Omega I would consider, the Railmaster could be an opinion.

But as I have the Cosmonaute which is not very often seen and the Chrono Avenger, a third Breitling would fit better to my collection.

The only problem I have then, is which model? I love the Emergency but as it is only 50m waterresistant it was always a no go for me.

I love big size watches and they must be robust, so which Breitling you can advise?

Pat

Well, I'll speak up for the 177. Very different look than your other watches in your collection. The Titan. gives it lighter fit on the wrist (which I like) and a more tool look than the polished SS. PAMs do run a little pricey. I ended up with a 005 (less expensive) to see how I would like the brand (also interested in the 177). So far so good.

The POs are nice but a little too common for me.

For the price of the 177 you could get nice Breitling, say Blackbird, Navi. or similiar. Also think of how you might wear it, different straps, etc. can give a variety of looks.
Good luck!

You are right, different straps are giving the watch a variety of looks.

For my Avenger I have a brown leather, the professional and the diver strap and the watch looks always different 8)

Hi Jeff,
that is a nice SA you have :lingsrock:

The diameter I think is 48mm but also similar to my Chrono Avenger. I have already thought about a SA

Which large and robust Breitling? All I have is my experience and smallish wrists. Here are the Breitlings I wear that could fit the bill - Blackbird(polished, subtle dial, amazing lume, great bracelet), Bentley GT (OMFG sexy!), Syracer (with same polished Pro II bracelet as Avenger), Navi Datora (looks bigger than it is - all dial!), and don't leave out the Steelfish which I believe to be the best watch for the price-period.

If I had to pick one and price was no option - Bentley GT. If price was somewhat of a consideration - Blackbird. If price was THE sole considerarion - Steelfish.

Happy hunting.

never mind, it's 48.4. No wonder I can't carry it off on my wrist.

Oh, left out a rather obvious choice I have - Superocean Heritage 46 or Chrono. If you like big and black on black - it's great. I do.

The Blackbird is also under my consideration, maybe I will wait until I have the new cataloque for 2010 and I find something new ;-)

A big size is not a must as my Cosmo is only 41mm but looks bigger as it is. I like the new 2010 Superocean in yellow, but finally I have to see the watch on my wrist as pictures could tell sometimes a complete different story ;-)

I like the 46 Heritage as well, but the chrono would not be an option for me.

When you compare the PO and the Heritage who would be the winner
