Hi

Browsing a local auctionsite to find this:
Image

Always liked these, but my main interest in watches isn't in Breitling. As the new ones are to large for my taste (and wrist).

So if you guys could help me out with verifying that it's genuine it would be awesome!

Thanks a lot for your help!!

It looks OK, better pictures would help.

Do you have a serial number?

I'm also moving this to the vintage section - you'll get a better response on this there.

Thanks Roffensian!

Better pictures, or larger at least:

You can enlarge them pretty much.

Claimed specs:

That helps.

Serial number is still very faint, looks like it might be 110xxxx which is 1966 or 118xxxx which is 1967. That's about right for this type of look - certainly no earlier than 65.

I'd like movement shots like that for every piece we get asked about - it's a nice looking Venus 178 with a correct bridge.

The .4 suffix for the model indicates gold plated which is also correct - a nice looking piece.

Thanks again Roffensian!

You doesn't happen to know what is a fair price for this as well?

As I said. I just like this pice and happened to stumble upon it. So haven't had the chance to research on my own. :)

Gold plate isn't the most appealing version, and condition isn't spectacular so probably in the $2,500 or so range.

There's absolut no doubt about it's originality, it's 100% original and it good condition.

I'll go a little below Roff's estimate on the value, but only some 10-15%, and that is eBay price, if it's a reputable dealer that is selling it, and it is in fully serviced condition then $ 2.500,- (even + a little) is a fair price.

Sounds about right... they're hovering around 2.5k on ebay right now... plus or minus 200 bucks...

I kinda like the gold...

Generally I'm not a fan of gold.
But the bezel is rather thin on this one. So it's a bit discrete.

Also I like how the gold almost is matched by the patina on the dial

I'll have to keep an eye on this one. :)
