I don't understand what they were thinking with the Navitimer having no quickset date, any automatic watch without quickset date is really gonna be a hassle. :watchout:
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Navitimer World model does have a quickset.
Just off the top...can anyone tell me are there any other Breitling models that do not have quickset ?

:soapbox:
What is up with that ?
Why ?
I could not own an automatic watch without date quickset.
What a shame...I really like the classic Navitimer look.
I have seen $50. fakes with quickset...I don't get it.
No quickset...No $4k+ from me ( period )

I have to disagree. I'm perfectly happy with my Legende without the quickset date.

Normally it stays on a winder if not on my arm, so then I don't have to worry about changing the date. Otherwise you can simulate a quickset function by going back and forth from 10 to 3 until you reach the desired date.

The SOHC 125year LE does not have a quick set date, but all my watches stay on winders. Also as has been pointed out on another trhead, you just have to move the hour hand back and forth between 11 and 1. I would prefer it's there, but it just doesn't really make a difference to me.

BUT can one of you experts explain WHY some models do not have the quick date set???? Just curious.

I'm inclined to agree with you! I love the Legende but when it's not being worn, I have to remember to set it and wind it every so often. If I get too many days behind it's a major headache! I guess that's the price we have to pay for not having a winder like some of our esteemed peers lol.

I am glad that you are happy with your watch...I know its a minor nuscience in reality "Oh my Breitling doesn"t have quickset, how will I cope" but for the quality of watch you expect when you purchase a Breitling its really baffling...it is a nuscience that can easily be remedied, jeez... even some $50 fakes have quickset what is the big deal. I'm just pissed cause I really like the Navitimer but I think I'll have to scratch it off my wish list...in the end there are other watches I would be equally happy with and not have to except the disregard of a simple thing like quickset. I'm really curious and was hoping someone would know a reason, why Breitling chose this for some but not all their other models.

I can't say that I find it a hassle either. I have winders so it's 5 times a year and takes maybe 10 seconds longer each time than if it had a quickset - longer in February I guess.

It's not overly difficult to add a quickset date complication, I guess they just wanted to offer some options for the apparently endless stream of people who struggle with the concept of not using a quickset date between 8pm and 3am

With my limited watchmaking experience I can't think of a practical reason why it wouldn't be offered in these watches, but I am not specifically familiar with their movements.

when you say quick set - do you mean the ability to pull the crown out one click and spin around to the date?

if so My Navitimer has that function.

Discussion is specifically about this model - http://www.breitlingsource.com/watch_de ... er_53.html

Which doesn't have it.

Ok Roff ... Thanks, I think your talking me back in ...I forgot about the quickset between 8pm - 3am can cause possible damage to the function , that begins to make a little sense. But I still may have jumped ship as this revelation has caused me to further inspect the Chronomat B01 and I like what I'm seeing ... an awesome time machine and personally I don't have a problem with the look of the bezel.

The models without quick date set has a 7753 movement. That movement actually does have a quick date set feature, but it has to be implemented using another pusher on the opposite side of the case. Unfortunately, Breitling doesn't utilize that feature for whatever reason.

Took awhile to find a picture of the quick date set feature of the 7753 but here it is on an Oceanaut:

And this thing about going back and forth between 11 and 1, is that actually safe to do?

Oh yeah, I forgot that.

Perfectly safe, although you generally have to go to a wider spread of hours than that.

To add what oBMTo said, Ive always been under the impression that given the 3/6/9 subdial layout that Breitling chose to go with, there was really no choice but to go without a quickset unless they added the ugly extra pusher. All the other navitimers that have the quickset are 7750/2892 based with the 6/9/12 subdial layout. That said, my Navi is a pain in the asswhen I have to set it (especially if I have a lot of days to go through). But, I guess given the choice of subdial layout, id rather have it how it is with no quickset than 7750 style with quickset.
