Glad you enjoy reading about the fakes. I found I learnt far more about the real things by learning to spot the good replicas.

Regarding "pats on the back", if someone posts a "I'm thinking of buying this. Will you check it over" type question, I reckon that most say "thanks" whatever the outcome. If someone posts "Is my watch real?" and the answer is "no", then far fewer reply!

I don't think anyone on here would want more than a "thank you" for their efforts.

I totally agree. Before buying my Skyland, I spent some time learning how to distinguish the replicas from the genuine watches (lume dot positioning and shape, pearl inlay, date window placement, etc).

No way I would make any online purchase blindly without knowing what to look for.

I agree, sometimes a thanks is good enough, what I omitted in my OP was a thanks from the big B themselves. You would think that your giving them loads of free PR, aside from the obvious benefits of removing fakes from the market. I think its kind of a shame of the state of the world when the first thing on their web is about fakes, and not the watches. I bought mine from the bay, and used this sites tips to ensure all the points, the b at 11:57, cocs numbers and sn matching, and close pics of them all. I got the real thing, no doubt, and thats thanks to BS.

Great Forum here, privileged to be a part of the family. :lingsrock:

Exactly! I think evaluating fakes have helped me appreciate all the minute details and finishings of a genuine Breitling.
