Hello again!

I have a quick question that last time asked I was told to bring it into the AD to fix but just have not had the time to do so.

My Evo is losing about 6 seconds every day, which adds up to minutes every month! I keep here about ways to place the watch down at night that can bring back some time....if so what should I do at home to see if I can fix it before finding the time to go to my AD?

It's only marginally outside of COSC specs (-4 / +6), so not a huge issue. Generally the way to lay the watch to have it gain is to lay it on its back. It's not an exact science, but that is most likely to work.

how do you even tell if your watch is losing or gaining time? what is the benchmark that you guys use to do this?

Atomic clock or any number of websites that provide equivalent.

I understand that it is supposed to be +/- 4-6 second daily....however it it -6 sec's EVERYDAY! Meaning, if I do not adjust it back to normal weekly by the end of the year my watch will be more than 34 minutes slow! THATS NOT RIGHT!

My watch never is + always -! It adds up!

If you've let the watch "settle", that is allow it to run continuosly for 4-6 weeks, and you're still out of COSC (-4 to +6 seconds / day) then you're only recourse is to bring it to the AD.

I've heard of people compensating for lost or gained time by laying the watch in different positions, but those watches were within COSC specifications and the owners were doing it for added comfort.

I understand that it's -6 every day, laying it on it's back may reduce that to -5 or -4 every day.

As Ian says, and as you were told previously, it needs to be regulated, but you asked for alternatives.

And also, just because the COSC tolerance is -4/+6 secs a day, it doesn't mean that every watch is necessarily going to fluctuate between those extremes. Some people find that their watches do tend to fluctuate slightly around a mean point (maybe +2 one day, -1 the next etc), but others find their watches consistently gain or loses time......, but still within the daily rate tolerance of COSC.

Yours is just outside the COSC range, but it's still outside it, so you are certainly justified in asking for a regulation.

I sent my Navi in for service when it was about +10. It was off to BUSA for two weeks and came back running +0 over a few days. Recently though, its been about -10. I put it in my car this morning to take to the AD since my warranty expires tomorrow! I had completely forgotten to take it in today but this thread reminded me Off to the dealer in a bit
