Hi all,

With good help from this forum I finally decided to buy a blue Superocean Steelfish. It was not on stoch at the AD but I ordered one. Today I was going to pick it up :D , but I was kind of shocked to see that the dial was not blue at all - it was rather greyish, I think. From all the pictures I have seen it did not look at all that way, and not like the blue dial you see on the Breitling webside either. I realise it would not be as brightly blue as the blue Superocean, but to my eyes there was no blue in the dial whatsoever.
One thing I found funny was that the watch was delivered the day after I ordered it (sent from Sweden to Denmark) which was peculiar as I have read about weeks or even months delivery time from other Breitling models.

In my disappointment I decided to go for the black dial instead (and I have to wait 4 weeks for this  ). Now I wonder, if the model they showed me was a new "blue" 2010 model - or alternatively a model from an older year range with different colour tones? Comments from blue steelfish owners (or anyone who knows more) are very welcome!

AFAIK the Steelfish uses the same blue as on my Colt II Quartz. Which is a steel blue, and definitely not a vibrant blue, sea blue or deep blue. It's a bit grayish, not 100% blue, but it's definitely blue, it's not gray. I haven't seen the new Breitling blue shade, but if they call it blue, then it shouldn't be gray :?

I have an 08/09 blue SOS. The dial does change colors in different lighting. I think this is due to the swirls on the dial. I is most definitely blue. I also hear that the black dial looks dark blue under certain conditions.

Here is a link to a few pics.

The black dial definitely looks blue in a lot of conditions due to the agressive AR coating on the exterior surface.
