Anyone done this before?

Australia Post are telling me that China prohibits watches (yes, that's the way they expressed it). Surely there's a way. Are there some magic words, e.g. do I call it a "precision instrument" or something like that?

1. I wouldn't send a watch to china. I don't care how desperate I was for a sale. The only time I would is if the payment is by wire - ie; NO PAYPAL - NO RECOURSE.

2. Australia Post wont allow you to post "jewelery" internationally. The company that they use for International post is EMS who do not allow it. I've been told the same thing before.

3. Contact the likes of UPS, Fedex etc. It will cost more but its the only real sure way. $150-200 to the USA for example. Unfortunately one of the drawbacks of buying and selling from Australia.

Yeah, that's basically the conclusion I had come to. Fedex seems to be the only real option. Thanks mate.

I think as Jay said, though, exercise a lot of caution. I would only take a bank wire from China. Lots of stories of scammers and paypal and chargebacks coming from China.

Yeah, I am very wary about it. Unfortunately, however, the watch is on ebay and they require me to accept paypal. The listing states that international buyers must be verified, not sure what else I can do. If the auction ends and I'm unsure about the buyer, you can bet I'm not going to let the watch go.

Hi do what the scammers do and tell your buyer your paypal account is out of action and the only way is direct bank transfer

Like I said, a mate of mine is going through a nightmare at the moment with PP.

He sold a few watches online, buyers seemed legit and he checked it all out (verified etc).

Turns out they were using a hacked account and the owner of the PP account didn't even know about it.

Seeing as its not their fault and PP protects buyers more than sellers, my mate is stuck with a $10k PP balance negative!

The scammers picked up the watches from the designated addresses.

Seriously - it's dangerous.
