There's been some threads here recently about quartz vs mechanical. Here is a thread with a bit of insight into quartz from NAWCC's website. It bogs down in the middle but read to the end.

I like the Oysterquartz, such a nice quartz movement even if it
needs new batteries every 16 month's or so and makes some noise.
