Otherwise I really don't mind re-setting the time on the watch that has been "hibernating" prior to wearing it. In fact, I truly enjoy going thru the ritual -- akin to starting up the engine to a beloved car in the morning... ya know?
As long as the watch is fully wound and allowed to run down once a month the oils will be fine - although they'll still break down as they age (which is really the servicing issue these days).
I have a number of watches that do only get a wind a month, but I also like to be able to 'grab and go' without worrying about setting. Of course every time that you set there is also the slight danger of damaging the date wheel by forgetting about the 'danger window'.
