I want to believe that it's because so much R&D money went into the B01, but we'll see. With 2010 coming hard on the heels of the worst luxury goods market for almost 30 years it's hard to believe that there will be truly revolutionary announcements.

It's also sad that I am resigned to not seeing things like DBs and don't even put them on my list anymore!

I wonder if it is the overall market or Breitling in particular. Panerai has been releasing a slew of new models with in-house movements. There are rumors that Rolex lost a lot of money on Madoff, and they're putting out new models.

As for DLC, I find that boring. IWW will DLC any watch for a reasonable price.

I wouldn't mind seeing them keep a Navitimer with the same dial layout as the 125th anniversary model.

A B01 in a case that befits the history of the brand - a Navitimer would be ideal
A chrono-matic that respects the history with a crown on the left
A return to innovation instead of rehashing existing dials and cases
Real value for money instead of $30,000 plus gold versions of a $5,000 watch
A rationalisation of the Aeromarine line rather than a constant addition of slight changes to try and pull even more people into the brand
Something tangibly different in the Professional line that is supposed to be leading edge
Some evidence of an in house haute horlogerie piece in the works

That's all

 Now that is a list! One that benefits us all.
Way to go Rof! :D
I would love to see a super avenger with the b01 movement if its not to much to ask...
I love the watch, but the jumping second hand on the chronograph drives me nuts!

....And with a range of different in-house movements too. Since 2003, Panerai have knocked out 7 different in-house movements (or 5 if you discount the P.9001 and P.9002 as variants of the P.9000), and they've certainly not been afraid to put them in a number of different watches.

I know there is an unsubstantiated rumour that Breitling don't want to put the B01 in something that looks anything like the existing models (hence the radical design departure with the Chronomat B01) for fear of harming sales of the older pieces, but all we have to do is look at Panerai to completely debunk that theory.

Essentially Panerai produce 3 case designs : the Luminor, the 1950 Luminor and the Radiomir. ALL of their watches fall into these 3 designs, give or take a few styling tweeks here and there. And are Panerai afraid to put in-house movements in pieces that look very similar to existing models for fear of harming sales??? Of course they aren't!

I just cannot understand Breitling's reluctance to make the B01 a little more widespread. If they are making 50,000 of these a year, surely the time is right to start making it more available across the range?

Not sure why, but as I read all these wish lists, all I could hear in the back of my head was Steven Tyler belting out "Dream On"......... :(

I'd add the submersible models to your list of 3 cases. Yes, in theory they are Luminor or 1950 cases, but they are pretty different.

But of course, they are putting their in house movements in submersibles too!

Well Said!

I would like to add a Seawolf Avenger in either SS or Ti but with the GMT complication - they can keep the new one and that includes the Navi - World too!

Best Regards,

Enezdez

Just some 42 mm models.
This bigger/better thing is starting to get on my nerves.

Oh no, nothing smaller than 44.5mm please! Just doesn't yell "LING!" to me...

Panerai does well I think because of their strategy to limit productions per year. If you only sell let's say 2000 pcs of a certain model a year, I think it's genius to then sell that model in LE of 3000 pcs ONLY. The trick is to add importance to the year of production, as in C=2000, L=2009 etc.

As far as rehashing of existing dials/cases/designs, again, Panerai does exactly that VERY successfully. Probably work hand-in-hand with the LE thing. 3000pcs of black-on-black, 3000 of black w silver subs, 3000 of white with batons, etc...?

Display backs only make sense for in-house movements imo, or complications or some such. But I certainly love looking at one, and wouldn't mind a Ling skeleton!

The tremendous requests of Navitimer-based models will get my vote only if the WR is improved. I equate Breitling with tough tool watches, and cannot get it in my head to be delicate with one or having to remember to take it off just to swim (not dive)!
