Yes, I can in those recent pics. I think that it is just the finish of the coating on the markers. I don't think it's anything to worry about. If you are that concerned, take a drop down to the AD but I doubt there is anything they will do as "nothing is wrong".

Is there luminescent material applied to the batons? Is it of the same color as the hands?

They appear to be flat but there is definitely the appearance of some swirly striation. Might be possible that the lume material "swirled" upon application and cured as you see it. Just a guess as I'm not really sure of the process through which lume is applied.

EDIT: Turns out to be a terrible guess. After looking at the photos again the batons are clearly not a luminescent portion.

nope...don't see it. Does it bother you or are you just asking? It's probably just the way the batons are finished.

Can anyone with a baton SA please take a look on their watch and tell me if they have the same ? I have looked at many SA pictures but i cant see close enough in the right light. Please, it will give me peace. I find it so weird that the batons are not clean shiny like the markers but looks colored.

I have a black SA with numbers, i get the same effect only during various angles and under direct lighting. It does not bother me at all. Could could be the result of the anti glare coating as it is applied on both sides of the lens.

It is very visible. I can see it almost all the time, especially good in direct lighting.

The thing that bothers me is that in one way it is very strange that the batons are colored and not all shiny like the other details and in another way it does not look like something is wrong as all the batons have the exact same pattern on them. I havent seen this on any other pictures of the SA. I need to see a high res picture of someone elses watch.

I guess i can take it to an AD but i am afraid i will talk to someone who doesnt really care and just tell me it is supposed to be like that. I have purchased the watch abroad so if i am gonna get it fixed it needs to go to Switzerland (International Warranty)

Hi, I have the same watch, also a 2009, and canNOT see the swirls you are talking about? If it bothers you, certainly you should send it back while still under warranty! Good luck!

Ok, thanks. I think i will go to an AD next week and make them have a look at it. If they say it is not supposed to be like that i will have to ship it to Switzerland.

I have the exact same watch and I don't see the same thing on my baton markers but I would have to agree with some of the other members and say that it's probably the finish on the marker, a polishing oil of some sorts, nothing I'd be too concerned about. If you truly need to find solace then I'd definitely go to an AD and at least inquire about it. Peace of mind is most important.
