As above really, I bought this on New Years Eve at the AD in Truro, it has been fine up until yesterday

Any advice appreciated.

Because it's magnetised.

Take it to your AD and they'll fix it in 10 seconds without taking the back off.

Bigger issue is figuring out how it happened. You need to keep the watch away from any magnetic fields - obvious things are speakers or similar at home, but even leaving it sitting on a cell phone can do it. Also things like self scan checkouts at stores can do it.

Thanks, does seem strange, our entire lives are dominated by those items!

My Colt does not have the same problem and I have had that for 5 years.

That's possible - they have different case designs remember.

It's not heavily magnetised to be 2 minutes in 30 - that's 'only' about 1 1/2 hours a day which isn't much for a magnetised watch, although it's obviously a lot for any other problem.

Have to say I am less than impressed, I can't be taking it to an AD every month! Might be going back! 'Not fit for purpose' comes to mind. ie does not tell the time reliably. lol

Also copied to AD. Which happens to be 250 miles away. Quite a distance for over here! lol

I know your upset but always remember that being nasty to the AD does not help at all. Sometimes you need to speak your mind but not right away. They are not at fault and it will do more harm than good to yell at them.

I do agree, it's not in my nature to to be agressive, so will wait and see what develops. I am more dissappointed than angry. Perhpas someone should have said 'perhaps during normal wear you watch will get magnetized and then become unreliable' If this had been the case I would have held onto my hard earned. Thanks for your thoughts.

Also, I can't wear it now.

'that's a cool watch, why doesn't it tell the right time?'

Its a bit difficult then trying to explain why you spent thousands on it!

@freon warrior - not that it's much consolation to you at the moment, but personally I think you've just been very unlucky somehow. I've owned a number of mechanical watches (including Navitimer models) for over 12 years now, and never once had a magnetisation issue with any of them.

The only specific care I take to avoid it is not leaving them on my bedside table next to my mobile-phone overnight, and obviously not resting them on any speakers (or anything else with a large magnetic field). That's it.

I have arranged to get the watch back to Truro on Friday, for it to be sent to BUK. I will be in Cornwall on 19th Feb. so will collect it then. No response from BUK

Just for illustration purposes I attach a couple of pictures. Not quite right eh?

Apologies for the poor photography!
