I'm in need of a 5-8 place watch winder. I know there are many posts on here about them, but I couldn't specifically find info on winders that will hold 5~8 watches. I have a 2 place winder now that when closed my Super Avenger and Hublot Big Bang King touch the glass of the winder door. So does anyone know a brand of winder that will wind 5~6 big boy watches? And by hold them I mean I want to be able to close the door on it. If this post is redundant then please accept my apologies, I don't wanna get crucified by all the breitlingsource Gods out there.

Please check this link out on ebay:

Any good?

I have to say that I would never buy a lower end watch winder that uses one motor for two watches.

The debate between high end and low end has certainly been done to death, but I will say that if you go the low end route then the quality of materials in the drive mechanism won't be as good and two watches on one motor will cause the mechanics to be out of balance causing premature wear.

Thanks, good point. So what I should be looking for? I buy things on impulse and I know zero about the mechanical side of watches. I can name everything Brietling currently being produced, but couldn't tell you zip about their movements. Although I do know not to set the date on my SA between 8pm - 4am (or something like that).

BY THE WAY ROFF, SORRY ABOUT THE PMs, I MEANT TO POST THAT HERE ! OOPS

No worries

PM replied to, and for the sake of completeness.....

I recommended an Orbita Monaco - expensive, but if you are going the 6 watch route then I think it's worth spending a little more.

Wof Designs have a good reputation in the 'high lower end' part of the market and I believe that they make a 6 watch winder, but I have no personal experience.

If you don't want to spend mega-bucks (and at the risk of sounding like an Official Time agent here.... which I'm NOT incidentally! ), you can lot a lot worse that try one of these -

http://cgi.ebay.com/Official-Time-6-Wat ... 2a040e77bc

They come in a variety of colours (mine is in grey oak), although this was the only 6-way I could find on the Bay. separate motors and separate switches. Quiet, options of clockwise, anti-clockwise and alternating rotation, and has built in rest periods. Ideal for my needs and mine has done me proud for quite a while now and it falls somewhere between the frankly laughably priced high-end winders, and the "stop working in 2 weeks" cheap rubbish.

I think you mean Buben & Zorweg, and yes, they are nice.

However, they do make Orbita look cheap!!!

No experience, sorry.

It says Japanese motors which I assume is intended to imply higher quality than Chinese, and the fact that they can be programmed independently is a good sign. It also has rest periods which is a good sign.

It also says that it has a 2 year warranty, so that seems reasonable - subject to details of course. I'd want to know what the brand is though.

Yes very strange how it says: "Our brand, manufactured for us to our specifications"
The return policy is nice too. But no clue as to whether it will fit a 48x18 watch...

I'll keep you posted. Thanks

I have this winder and it has a couple good things and a few bad ones.

Pro: it can be had for half what he's asking (I think I paid $350)
the watch "holders" click into the cups and lock
each place is controlled individually and has all the settings you would need

Cons: several of the individual winders have started to "growl" when turning
the indicator lights are very bright (its a night light in my bed room)
it is NOT made to handle the weight of the SA and larger watches and so when turning the bracelet rubs on the edge of the cups.
No battery power option

The seller is OK. The first one he sent had a DOA winder on one place and he sent me a replacement unit after mailing the first one back.

Overall I got what I paid for and am still using it. I am concidering cutting the back off and seeing if I could redesign it to work better (expecially with heavy watches)

Yeah mine is also begun to growl thats why its out the door, plus its only a 2 slot. I guess that ebay one is out, since 4 of my automatics are large and heavy. These Wolfdesign ones seem nice, but they're mostly out of stock. The VICEROY 2.7 specifically mentions extra deep drums to fit large timepieces, so it seems right for me. But its out of stock. I'll have to search around. Thanks everyone for the tips. I hope these higher end ones don't start to growl. I assume that they don't.

Be forewarned on some Wolf winders. I have the 2.0 and the pillow wouldnt seat hard in the winder and even my Evo had fallen out of the winder. Now the Wolf is in the closet. It always worked well but I was tired of coming home and finding the Evo face down on the dresser! Now I wouldnt even concider a winder that didnt either lock the watch into the winder or the watch winders face almost straight up.

I have been thinking about a Rotolution 4. It is PC programable and locks the watches in the winder. There is also extra drawer storage. Problem is the $1200 price tag.

My Brookstone quad winder has plenty of room for big watches, has more settings than you actually need, and has independent motors which are dead silent.

I have only had it 2 months, but it has not had any problems yet. Handles my two Bentleys and my Steelfish with no problems. It's only $200, so even though it's only a quad you could get 2 of them and still be ahead of what a 6- or 8- winder would cost.

Hey M,

Does your Brookstone winder have 2 or for "cups"? Just curious if you have 2 watches per pillow. I have noticed that trend with some winders.
