Not sure how relevant the question is, but a Crosswind TT.

There is no way a camera will pick up anything, looks just like a white dial World on bracelet, without the outer AR.

If you are curious whether it is authentic or not, I can guarantee it is authentic. No doubt about it.

To bad if camera won't pick up anything.
Didn't question authenticity at all, don't believe that someone can peddle a fake to you.

LOL! I hope you are right about the fakes... but you never know :) It took me 3 inspections with a loupe before I found some remaining AR where it wasn't quite fully removed. So picking this up on camera would be next to impossible.

I think Jack @ IWW does a re-coat for something like $80.

Because different watches can/will have different service costs. An Emergency costs more to service than a Colt Quartz.

But you can get your windshield replaced without having your oil changed. They don't need to disassemble the movement to change the crystal.

Correct. I don't think I was making that argument. The point I was attempting to make was this...

Let's say you are quoted $400 to have your watch serviced. Generally speaking, that includes a service & regulation of the movement and a refinishing of case/bracelet. If any other parts need to be replaced (i.e. dial/hands/crystal, etc), that is generally going to be above and beyond the $400. I wouldn't imagine Breitling would just throw in a new crystal without adding that onto your bill. You can obviously still send in your watch to have the crystal/dial/hands replaced without having a full service.

Ahh, fair enough. I wonder if an independent, but authorized service center like JD Watchworks would change the crystal for you without the service. You might want to give Julius a call.

Again, YMMV, but both service quotes I received included all fixes. Nothing magically appeared on top of the quote.

I just removed the outer AR from my Breitling last week. It annoyed the hell out of me. Putting a soft easily scratched and buffed/smudged coating on the outside on an extremely hard crystal is just silly. It WILL get scuffed or scratched or smudged at some point and then it looks awful. For picture taking purposes yes it means you can't see the dial quite as well but in everyday use it is not at all noticeable.

It's surely better than paying £300 to get a new crystal to replace a scratched or smudged one. Now it's removed i can choose if i want to pay £50 to get the outside coated again too.....still a lot better than paying £300 for a new crystal.

Yeah, like I said, it may be different for others, but I have a fairly complicated automatic that's had some significant work done (especially on the first service). I guess my point is, I've never been surprised by additional charges after the fact.

Good luck!
