Yesterday I went to change the date on my watch, have not worn it since January 5th, and the date would not change by using the quick set. It seems that the mechanism is trying to engage to change but it keeps clicking. So I manually changed the date, and when I just checked it now hoping that it would read 10, it still reads 9. What happened? Also the watch is less than a year old.

I live about 2.5 hrs from the CT location, can I drive there to drop off the watch?

Thanks,

David

I wonder if you might have changed the date between the hours of 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM by accident? Sometimes this will cause damage to the mechanism.

There had always been this problem since day one, and it got progressviely worse. Changing the date would work one day and then it would not work a few days later.

We you say dont change the date between 8p and 3 a, which I read in the manual. How can I tell if the watch stopped between those hours? Or if the watch stopped between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm?

Thanks,

David

Pull the crown out all the way to position three and rotate it moving the hands forward in time only. Rotate it and watch the date. It will change around midnight indicating if the watch is in the AM or PM. Once you determine that the watch is outside of the 'danger zone' (that's after 3:00 am) then you can move the crown to position two and set the date using the quick set feature.

More than likely however, if you have accidentaly set the date between the times mentioned above, and you are having the problems you describe, then there has been some damage done to the mechanism and it will likely need to go to Breitling for a fix.

If you can rotate the time through an entire 24 hour period in position three and the date doesn't move then IMO some damage has been done to the mechanism. Roffensian or one of the more technical guys could give you the details of what has probably happened but it's more than likely going to have to go back to Breitling. Sorry.

As Elwyn says, could well be a broken tooth on the date change wheel, especially if the problem has been happening for a while. Just check one obvious thing now - make sure that the date doesn't change at noon!

An update.

Drove to CT, dropped off the watch. Everything is covered under warranty. Replacing second and minute hand as well as the date wheel. If you have never been, and you need a watch to be serviced, you should take the time to drive there.

Thanks to all those who helped.

David

I don't have the time to drive the 1000 miles to CT. I'll let UPS do that for me ;)

Thanks for keeping us updated on the progress.
Did they mention how long it would take to repair it?
