Hello everyone.

Just noticed something with my Super Avenger black with black batons. When i look at the batons with the light directly shining on them, you can see small signs of "multi-colouring" in the surface on every single baton, it is a bit hard to explain but i hope you know what i mean. When i look at the minute and hour hand it is not like that. Have any of you noticed this on your watches?

Maybe im just being crazy, and it is probably normal, but it is interesting to ask :)

Thanks for answers

Sorry, but I can't see it from your pictures and I can't really visualise it either - hence I can't help I'm afraid.

I think I see it. It's probobly the light reflecting off the coated lens.

I agree with Jefferson. It's the coating on the crystal face, I notice it quite frequently on my black faced Skyland but never notice it on my white SA. It's nothing to worry about, I'm sure someone with more technical ability and experience will pitch in with their thoughts shortly!

Cheers

I am not sure it is the crystal coating, i think it is just the way the batons look after they are polished. The picture is not good but it is like a pattern in an "oily" color on the surface.

Does this watch have crystal glass? Is that the glass that should be "scratch free" ?

I have already got a scratch in my glass...

It's a Sapphire Crystal and can be scratched only with a diamond.
You manage to scratch the AR coating which is not hard like Sapphire.

Ok, is it then possible to repair the scratch in the glass? Is the AR coating something that can be reapplied?

(I doubt i got the scratch from a diamond object :) )

Practically you will have to live with it. In theory you could have it removed and then reapplied, but the crystal would need to be removed and then replaced without damage. I believe Breitling just replaces the crystal.

An alternative that some watch brand owners do (but generally not Breilting owners) would be to fully remove the AR coating with a polishing compound. You'll obviously lose the glare reduction but if the scratch bothers you it's an option until you can get the crystal replaced at service time.

Not sure if I am in that category, but honestly no, I'm not sure what you are getting at - sorry.

I'm pretty sure its the light reflecting off of the surface. On my Chronomat with a rhodium dial, it picks up a slight purplish hue when in direct sunlight. AR coating(light blue tint) + shiny silver surface=slight color change.

When you look at the batons in direct light they look colored. It is like a twirly pattern on them. Maybe it is something they get after they are polished at the factory. I tried to take some more pics for you to look. Can please someone with a baton SA look at their watch and tell me if it is like that on their watch or maybe even post a hi-res picture? The strange thing is that the hand markers are not like that, they are shiny and not have this colored pattern. I need to know if this is normal because it is bugging me.
