Magrette says of the process of inlaying Gold into Steel:
"Inlaying precious metal like gold into a harder host metal is a process that has not changed for centuries. The techniques that the old masters used are exactly the same today and even the style of tools hasn’t changed. What has changed is the host metals have got a lot harder so the tools are also made of stronger materials.
Not to be confused with gold plating which is a micro-thin layer of gold plated onto the surface of the metal, gold inlay is actually set and bonded into the host metal and is quite thick. For the Taniwha watch 0.5mm 24 Karat gold wire was used."

Hi guys, it's not for me either but they only make 5 (FIVE) pieces worldwide of this one, now that's what I call a limited number and all that for just 5.985 $ !!!

I actually really like the case...... BUT it looks totally at odds with that dial IMO. The dial is way too modern, while the case reminds me of acient Maori facial tatoos.

Nice idea, but I'm not sure of the quality of execution - look at the spirals on the lugs in the side on shot, especially the top one.

Also no caseback phot which makes me think that it's bland, and a generic movement.

The LE of 5 is nice, but ultimately if you are selling your entire production run for $30,000 then you can't invest too much in design, manufacturing, etc and that worries me.

If I'm not mistaken, in Maori mythology a taniwha is a monster which lives in lakes.

I like the case, but the dial looks like an entry level Anonimo. Now if they would have made a elegant porcelain dial and IWC style arabic lettering and hands..... well maybe.

Not sure the face jibes with the case. Face is too modern for such an ornate case.
