Hi guys and girls,

I have a small dilema. Today I walked in front of an AD here, in Edinburgh. They have a whole bunch of Breitlings on sale, including a Bentley GT, black face on a ss bracelet. The price drop is significant, I think the retail price for this model is sitting around £5500, and the sale price is around £3300.

Its a huge saving and a nice price for a Bentley, but after Christmas I'm not sure I can really justify it.

Arghhhh, decisions decisions....

Buying something just because it's a good deal is foolish if you don't love it. Unless you think you can flip it and make a few bucks...

I understand what you mean Zirotti. This is indeed a watch listed in my wish list, and I've been wanting to add it to my collection for a while now. This is the only reason for thinking about purchasing this watch, and not any of the others on sale.

Yes, its about %40... very impressive for the UK actually. They have some other models too, apparently they need to get rid of the stock.

Last year I bought my Cockpit from the same shop, for about £1900, which also was an impressive discount. It was around this time of the year.

Oh man with that knowledge I would save all year. If you love it than I say go for it!

Thanks for the advice guys!.

Today I've been around the AD and saw that they dropped the price down to £2800!. So I walked in and ask if I could see the watch. The first thing I've asked was "right, so what's wrong with this watch?".

They were quite honest and pointed out few scratches on the clasp, nothing that can’t be polished away with some cape cloth, and the fact that it’s been sitting there for a while.

Also, I've noticed that the bezel isn't very tied compared to my Navitimer World. I raised my concerns about the loose beze, and asked if I could compare it with other Bentley models. They were happy to bring out two more Bentleys; a 6.75 and another GT, all of them had a similar behavior.

I’m not quite sure about this bezel thing, I love the watch and this Bentley model it’s the perfect size for me, but I expected the bezel to be a bit more… robust?.

They are going to hold the watch for me until tomorrow, so I have about a day to make up my mind.

Any thoughts will be much appreciated.

Cheers.

When you say the bezel is loose are you referring to the way it turns? My bezel on my 6.75 takes a little more force to turn than my freinds watch. I had mine checked when it went for service and they said it wasn't a problem. I have found depending which year the watch was made has to do with it. My clasp is also very tight to open vs others, but after buying my sa I found it better so I didn't let them change it. If it comes with its original speed bracelet you can check in the bracelet section and there is info on how to date the watch. Hope some of this helps.

Hi Phill, the Bentley sounds like a cracking deal, especially for here in the UK. I've already done my tour of the AD's close to me including a few in outer London. Your deal beats nearly all of those I've seen, although I did manage to pick up a Ti Seawolf at a good price :D

Providing the Bezel is actually fine, its got to worth snapping this baby up!

Any chance of PM'ing me a list of the other discounted models?

Phill - as per my PM reply, I think this is a great deal, and the bezel (which is always looser than the friction-fit Navi bezel on account of the gearing) is all normal and nothing to worry about!

Tomorrow I'll pay another visit to the AD. I want to inspect that clasp a bit closer. The bezel was a concern, but from what the experts here are saying (thanks for your PM, Driver8) this is not an issue in terms of functionality.

I will keep you posted. Apparently here in Edinburgh the jewellers are competing with each other, they all have some Breitlings on sale, some at a really good price. Ah... if I had not bought a car this year....

Cheers

Hi guys,

Well... today I went to the shop and ask them to show me the watch again. I wanted to see it and have in my hands before I decided what to do.

I asked the AD to show me all the paperwork and documentation. Everything was in perfect order.

So, with the watch in my hands, the paperwork in order and 2 years official warranty, I´ve decided to pull the trigger.

The watch retails at £5648, and in the end I´ve got a 50% discount, which is amazing for the UK, I´ve never seen anything like it.

Today I´ve spent my evening resizing the bracelet (I like to do it myself, although they offered to resize it for me) and polishing it. It´s looking stunning and I will try to take pictures over the weekend, I promise.

This only leaves 1 more watch to add to my collection, the Daytona.

Thanks for everyone´s support and encouragement. I'm extremely happy with the watch and I'm glad that I went for it, even though after Christmas wasn´t the best time for me to do it. I guess I couldn´t let this fantastic deal pass.

Cheers,
