To paint the picture…. here it is 2:00pm Christmas day with the family scheduled to arrive at 6:00pm. So before I started prepping my Turkey I removed my new 60 day old Breitling watch. I carefully placed the watch on the counter away from all forms of dangers and salmonella. After prep work was finished I placed the turkey in the fryer then returned to my watch in order to set the bezel, which I was using to mark the time to remove the turkey. Well to make a long story short after much time has passed I noticed that my watch had totally quit working. Turkey was fried to a complete crisp…i.e. Christmas vacation style ….the electric knife did nothing. However, my concern was not on the turkey, but on the watch. I tried winding the watch manually to restart, but in the end no prevail.

The AD went through the watch and stated that a number of pieces came apart. Is this normal? I have ensured this watch has not been dropped or exposed to any form of impact. Nevertheless, the watch is on its way to Breitling today. I totally understand that things do happen and perfection is never attained. I know every Maserati is not perfect and yes there are bad apples in every bunch

So can anyone give me an estimate of turn around time and what will be done when it arrives at Breitling. I just want my ling back and in good working order.

Warranty repair gets priority, so reckon 4 weeks or so.

I have to say that upon reading through this the first time, I was convinced that you somehow cooked your breitling.

What setting do you use to cook a Breitling? and do youleave the strap on or off?

Yes- this is normal... if you do not feel like dealing with this headache (you should see what happens at 90 and 120 days!) send it to me and I will take care of the watch for you and send you a Casio in its place which is much more reliable.

haha...you guys are killing me...I am just glad everything will be replaced. But for the record the watch was not cooked. However, I thought the same thing about the AD's response.

As you mentioned in your initial post, it's not unusual for quality things to have problems (Maserati).

I bought an Avenger Skyland Black Steel last year and whilst on holiday in the Caribbean it was worn in the pool at a depth of no more than 3 feet and it subsequently let water in and misted up, it was a bout 4 weeks old and the crown was tight.

I'm sure it will get fixed pretty quickly!

Sorry about the turkey though, definitely brought back visions from the Chevy Chase film for me!

Unfortunately things happen and like you said nothing is perfect, but I must say you took it better than I did when I had problems with my super avenger and 6.75... I was just pissed, but I got over it and came to the higher ground as you did. Its funny. I bought a new Kobelco material handler that has been basically useless for about six months now for just under 500,000 and that didn't get me as upset.... I guess I am strange

The safest place to keep a watch is usually on your wrist. Maybe someone knocked it off , falling to the floor and put it back without you noticing. You can always wash the turkey goo off a waterproof watch! ha ha
