Hey everyone.

I've decided to take the plunge but have limited experience in dealing for watches. I really like the SOHC in blue that I saw at my local AD. It was the one with the mesh bracelet 4800 MSRP. They were willing to do 3500+ Tax but I thought I'd ask around here about pricing. What other Breitlings would be good to look at in this price range? Is this a decent price on a this watch from a AD?

Thanks!

I just took a look and seen a gray market seller listing at near $3,400 so I'd say that deal is worth jumping on for sure! Basically you just have to look around the web and if you see the prices are close, you're definitely getting a good deal from the AD.

Sounds like you walked after being offered $1300 off, having never purchased at that dealer prior. That's a good deal, and if you're serious, hope they'll still honor that on trip two.

It's a good deal, but paying the sales tax would also negate more of a discount that can be found.

Thanks for the replies. The price does seem good now looking around online. The only thing is the tax. That will make it around 3900 out the door.

Now that we have price settled. Does anyone have any suggestions on an alternative watch for my first Breitling? Is there one that alot of the guys get first and then move to something else? I know a lot of people arent 100% fond of the Heritage. The other one that caught my eye was the Navitimer but the price is a bit higher.

Thanks!

Hugely different watches - a diver vs. a watch that you can't wear in the shower.

It comes down to what you want / need the watch to do. the Navitimer is a perfectly fine daily wearer for an office job, but not as well suited to an active lifestyle due to the less rugged construction and low water resistance.

If it's just aesthetics, then only you can decide.

Thanks for the advice again. Can you tell me what watches besides those two that are in the 3500-4500 price range after AD discount that would be worth looking at? My AD has a large selection so it is hard to go over each one. I would rather go in with a plan :)

Thanks again!

That is a real "how long is a piece of string" type of question I'm afraid. If I was you I'd get hold of a copy of the current Chronolog (that is Breitling's catalogue BTW) with a copy of the current price list, and work on the basis that if you are US based you'll probably be able to get at least a 25% discount just by walking in through the door.

What watch to do for depends on a million and one factors, ranging from size, through aesthetics, to what you want to use it for. Is it to be an all-purpose watch, do you want to swim in it, do you want a chronograph, etc, etc? Those are all questions that only you can answer, so as I say, you'll be best to start with the Chronolog and work from there.

Thanks for the advice. Went back and ended up buying the Navitimer World with White Dial. Very happy with the choice.

They did 25% off retail. 6800$ Retail = $5100.

Seems like a good deal for walking in and being able to take her home today.

I'll post pictures soon.

Good watch, and good price, you done well! If that is an AD you're dealing with I think I would stick with them.
