Sorry, I'm obviously not trying hard enough, will try to correct that in the New Year.

LOL, we enjoy it just as it is Roff!

Which other forum is this? I just got my first Breitling earlier this week (2nd-hand black dial CA), so I'm starting to make my way around the B-centric fora. I'd like to steer clear of this other place, from the sounds.

'Tis nice enough here, though! Thanks!

I know what you mean Stef.

It's a different 'style' of moderation in that other place. They do not have any......

I have felt discrimination on another watch forum though, discrimination for being enthusiastic and British! Certainly not the case here though, the BS forum and website actually give something back to the people for being like minded enthusiasts.

Alan, I simply cannot agree that some of those moderators on the "other" forum had no style.
I found their "style" to be humourless and narcissistic with Stalin-esque overtones, whilst still remaining to being clueless all at once.

And by God that's a style and a half!

PS I forgot bigoted too. Apologies.

Thankfully none of these traits appear to be evident here, and a much nicer place it is too.

Being a younger African American I have had situations where I was ignored by sales reps but not when it comes to watches. As a matter of fact, it's been completely the opposite. I always get love when I go to the AD and I never buy anything. One time I walked into a Rolex AD and the rep wanted me to try on a $45,0000 platinum Presidential just for the heck of it.

I wonder how much of this is culturally driven. My wife is from the UK, and we are generally left alone in every store we visit when in England. She explained this is standard practice for retailers, and while they are readily available if you need assistance, they typically leave you to your own devices.

The qualification concept seems rediculous to me. No product exists that I feel I need to prove myself worthy of. If I am willing to pay for it, I qualify! Any retailer who thinks otherwise can eat me!! :nana:

Wasn't there this one guy who complained like a little girl when the dealer refused to remove a link free of charge?
His story as told by the dealer sounded quite a bit like some of these.

I like to visit an AD any chance I get. I usually look up a few in whatever city I'm traveling to - just to talk Breitling stuff and see if they have any models/combinations I've never seen in person before. By now I've been in quite a few and I have mixed feelings.

I can tell you it's pretty darn rare for any salespersons to approach me with any enthusiasm (even when I'm wearing my Montbrillant Olympus).

Here's why I think I get poor service:
1.) My overwhelming confidence in marching right to the Breitling case is intimidating to the sales people (lol)
2.) They have a very low "buyers" to "lookers" ratio and are burned out on customers who are already wearing a watch (they figure who needs two watches?)
3.) They don't like to talk watches when they are trying to work
4.) I'm 'too young'
5.) They think, "He's wearing a Breitling....it must be a fake"
6.) They think, "Damn, I hope we don't have to give out another Chronolog"

I'm thinking about stashing my Breitling hat in the car just to wear into ADs...I'll post on how that works out

Seriously the poor service doesn't bother me much. I can easily visit a dozen ADs a year so I'll wait till an AD knocks me off my feet and that's who will get my next purchase.

That would be a foolish assumption by them. More than a few dealers ive spoken to have told me that a good percentage of their customers own more than a couple of B's.

They are addictive. I think Breitling should institue a policy that gives you 75% off on your first ling or something crazy like just to get you hooked!
