Just got in my two Transoceans today. Here's a quick pic. The mans is from 1958 and in great condition and the ladies is from 1959 and will be getting a new crystal and a general service. Interesting feature of these gold Transoceans is the back of the case isn't gold plated like the rest of the case. I guess that's what is meant by gold top in the description. Have a couple of black lizard straps coming for them both. Thanks to i-am-spamming! for posting the advertisement page pic.

Nice pair. The Transocean features in a lot of ads from that time, was it a flagship model like Omega's Constellation or Longines Conquest,
perhaps in direct competition?

I always understood "Gold Top" to mean a solid gold bezel, not just plated?

Also just picked up this poster off Ebay.de. It's a pretty good size and I hope it gets here without getting destroyed. Will post a better pic if it does.

This one just popped up and dates to 1958. Would make a nice 'hers' for someone that has a close 'his'. :)

I love those old vintage ads, was watching the sale. Congrats on nabbing it.
Did you get any of the other ones.

Here's a detail of one with the Transocean.

In the copy it states that this is the "civilian" version - any idea what non-civilian watch it's referring to?

Nice scan, thanks! The guy selling the ads had them all ending at exactly the same time. Wrong move if you want to maximize your take. I had someone else bidding against me so only went after the one that mattered the most and got it. The other guy got the rest of them.

Just that the other versions like the Navitimer, etc, are military oriented and probably the cockpit clocks too.

Check out the crown on the pic you posted. My ladies version has the same one.

I haven't had the back off but I think it's a snap back. The pics were from the seller.
