I have the classic BB that's brushed and like most of you I think the "shiny" BB is just wrong.
Go with the brushed!

i would agree with all above that have plumped for brushed as thats how id get it, one thing to keep in mind when looking at brushed breitlings is that where you have areas that wear on each other, like the links that rub the clasp etc they will kinda come up shiny every now and again and need rebrushing.

you can do this at home with the right pen type too or a scotch pad i seem to recall some using.

conversely the clasp on all the polished B's i have then to egt the usual swirl marks and the braclets tend to also.

neither of these things would stop me getting one just wanted to share my experiances.

+1 for brushed. I saw someone with a polished BB once and just didn't like it as much. The black face and brushed finish give it an understated and stealthy look, but just occasionally you can see the shiny batons and hands flashing in the darkness. It's a beautiful watch.

Sorry about the mobile phone quality, but hopefully these will help:

I have the brushed, and soon after I bought it there was a lot of talk about the polished so I was unsure if i made the right choice. Since then the talk has stopped, and so has my doubt, the brushed is far better in my opinion. I don't mind a little bling, but to me it's not even that, the polished just doesn't work.

You need to compare in real life, I wasn't sure whether to go brushed or polished based on the website/book but in real life there is a huge difference.

I'm also thinking of getting a blackbird, tried on a brushed one about 2hours ago, I was thinking of the polished as it didn't look too blingy on the breitling website but I have to say if I go with a Blackbird I will definetly go with the brushed.
